Thumbs up, by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice : ...Where do I place Laal Singh Chaddha in the phalanx of mediocrity in Hindi cinema? Far ahead of all that you have seen in recent years, Laal Singh Chaddha should be on your must-see list even if you watch only two films a year.... full review
Thumbs up, by Vijeth Balila, Deccan Herald : ...Among the different possibilities of adapting ‘Forrest Gump’ to Hindi, the one done here is justified and totally makes sense on screen. Whether the adaptation was required in the first place is a whole different argument to make. Perhaps, if a perso...... full review
Thumbs up, by Rahul Desai, Film Companion : ...It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a Hindi big-screen experience like Laal Singh Chaddha. A lot of it is down to the film’s marriage of mind with heart. The thinking often morphs into a way of feeling. The writing often digs a tunnel through the political to reach the personal – and it’s this fable-like dimension that finds new context. In Forrest Gump, the journey of an underdog accidentally winning at life is staged as an ode to unhealthy coping mechanisms – where the grief of heartbreak becomes the cornerstone of greatness and fame. But Laal Singh Chaddha’s seamless embrace of sentimentality turns this journey into a more grounded metaphor: Even the most invisible people end up meaning something and shaping someone in their quest to survive. Even the most ordinary of us put a dent in the windshield of time. After all, life can only happen to those who’re busy making other plans – or simply running because they feel like.... full review
Thumbs up, by Devesh Sharma, Filmfare : ...We've always made remakes since time immemorial. Most are frame-to-frame copies. Watch Laal Singh Chaddha to understand why you don't need to do that to make a quintessentially Indian product out of a foreign import.... full review
Thumbs up, by Nitin Jain, Glamsham.com : ...Being an Aamir Khan film, it cannot go uncompared with his evergreen films like 3 Idiots, Lagaan, etc. in terms of the story and the overall entertainment factor. Laal Singh Chaddha, though does not have anything unlikeable but the challenge that the film might face is that it is a way too old story and might not be liked by the regular entertainment movie buffs. All in all, Laal Singh Chaddha is a definitive watch for Aamir Khan fans... full review
Thumbs up, by Devasheesh Pandey, India TV : ...Laal Singh Chaddha is worth watching in cinema halls. It will leave you teary-eyed, laughing and thoughtful in equal measures. It is a film of the present and might just become as timeless as Forrest Gump.... full review
Thumbs up, by Ambica Sachin, Khaleej Times : ...We could harp on the saccharine idealism that weighs down the lengthy movie with messages about universal brotherhood; love is the solution to all the ills, etc, sprinkled liberally around. But a surfeit of feel-good factor and wide-eyed optimism isn't exactly the worst thing to come away with at the end of a movie, is it?... full review
Thumbs up, by Umesh Punwani, koimoi : ...All said and done, Laal Singh Chaddha is much more than a tribute to Forrest Gump. It has its unique characteristics which also include some flaws but overall, a great attempt at retelling a classic story in your way. Three... full review
Thumbs up, by Sameer Ahire, Movie Talkies : ...A well-made film drops on the wrong occasion but will make an impact on classes and real critics. This is the second best thing in Bollywood after Jhund from whatever we have seen so far.... full review
Thumbs up, by Sonal Dedhia, News18.com : ...In a dialogue, Laal says, ‘Meri mummy kehti thi ki ‘zindagi golgappe jaisi hondi hai, pet bhale hi bhar jaawe, man nahi bharta.’ I wasn’t satisfied with Laal and wanted to patiently hear his story. Laal Singh Chaddha leaves you with tears, smile and a reflective state of mind.... full review
Thumbs up, by Avinash Lohana, Pinkvilla : ...Considering the stature of the original, it’s hard to not compare Laal Singh Chaddha with Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump. But even after that, Aamir Khan and his team manage to live up to the original and present an entertaining watch. Those who will be seeing it as a standalone film will be pleasantly surprised. The Hindi version is not flawless, but isn’t perfection overrated anyway? Maybe, Aamir would agree to that this time…... full review
Thumbs up, by Sukanya Verma, Rediff : ...Whether or not a Forrest Gump remake was needed, Laal Singh Chaddha does not let its source down. And replacing a box of chocolates with a ready-to-eat gol gappe kit is geeeenius, like Laal's Ustad would say.... full review
Thumbs up, by Renuka Vyavahare, Times of India : ...Shot extensively across India, equally cathartic and outstanding, 'Tur Kalleyan' breathes life into the film. Director Advait Chandan enters Rajkumar Hirani’s warm, funny and provocative satire space and succeeds partially.... full review

So-So, Bollywood Life : ...Laal Singh Chaddha is a film that needed a far better emotional resonance, far higher inspirational high and far better act from its lead star, Aamir Khan. All these things are there, but in short measure. BollywoodLife is going with 2 out of 5 stars.... full review
So-So, by Madhuri V, Filmi Beat : ...The music album of Laal Singh Chaddha is a blend of different moods which seeps effectively in Advait Chandan's story telling. Out of the lot, it's Sonu Nigam's rendition of Kahaani which lingers for long.... full review

So-So, by Punarvasu Pendse, fullhyd.com : ...Ultimately, what you get is a disciplined recreation of a crowd favourite, with elements tweaked to suit the Indian cinema-goer's palate. And despite a surprisingly weak performance from its lead actor. It's not often that one says that a film is decent in spite of Aamir Khan, but that's the case with Laal Singh Chaddha. And we come full circle.... full review
So-So, Hindustan Times : ...It's difficult to talk about Laal Singh Chaddha in isolation and not draw comparisons with Forrest Gump. If you haven't seen the original, I suggest you watch Aamir's film first and you'd then you would know for yourself if you indeed want to watch the original. The loyal Forrest Gump fans, I feel, won't really be super impressed by this remake, which remains a faithful adaptation, loyal tribute because yeah, that's what we have been seeing in all official remakes so far. Watch Laal Singh Chaddha for ace performances from Aamir and Kareena and that cute kid.... full review
So-So, by Isha Sharma, NewsBytes : ...LSC's emotional thumping necessitated more beats to stay with the audience for a longer time. There are dramatic moments, but they are largely hit-and-miss. Two particularly heart-rending scenes are abruptly cut short. Chandan's direction sometimes steps into Rajkumar Hirani's school of filmmaking, peppering the screenplay with heartfelt aspects that elicit a smile from the viewer. It still misses the mark.... full review
So-So, by Nandini Ramnath, Scroll.in : ...Kareena Kapoor Khan, whose power to stop a film in its tracks with minimal make-up and ordinary costumes is only getting stronger, is luminous as Rupa. So-So, by Anuj Kumar, The Hindu : ...Similarly, Advait is competent, but is like that efficient factory worker who has to make a new product from an old dye. One wonders whether Raj Kumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi would have been a better choice to bring Forrest closer home.... full review
So-So, by Saibal Chatterjee, V Love Movies : ...One could say pretty much the same about Laal Singh Chaddha. Its flaws notwithstanding, it is a highly watchable film that hits the right buttons for the most part.... full review
Thumbs down, by Murtuza Iqbal, Bollywood Life : ...Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the remake of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump. Thumbs down, by Nairita Mukherjee, india today : ...Laal is a boy from an affluent Sikh family living in Pathankot.
