@Meetu u ave the reputation of being one of the harshest film critics of Bollywood, m glad that ur turning lenient and indulgent. :) :)

  • Badlapur:

Meetu u rarely denounce a movie with a verdict "Catch on DVD for sure" , generally ur reviews conclude as "watch if you have nothing to do better" or "switch channels if its on cable"
.Since u don't provide star ratings for ur analysis it becomes difficult to interpret whether the review is positive or mixed , as an avid reader of your reviews , I instantenously felt u were pleased with the film overall . :)

Sridhar Raghvan last flick was a fiasco , it was expected to be an edge of thriller movie like his earlier one "Johnny Gaddar". After reading this review particularly if Meetu's verdict is positive , i am convinced i won't be disappointed again. :D

  • Hawaizaada:

The trailer looked authentic apparently with substantial amount of money spent on the production quality of the grandeur sets and designs. Meetu .. i believe the script was good given the fact that its historical accuracy was questionable, perhaps the execution, performances and lack of songs particularly item tunes deterred the audience from engaging into the film. The year first release 'I' directed by "Shankar" had the same expectation and it turned out excruciatingly bad and lengthy , its the last Friday of the first month of the year and again we are seeing another major film jolting.

Anuj ... Akshay Kumar said in an interview he always do films that are offered to him regardless of the story, he elaborated "comedy" is his favorite genre and wishes to do more films on this particular category. He is never worried about getting awards or public perception about his choices. That said Akshay is by far one of the fantastic actor in Bollywood. :)

  • Baby:

Well last year we saw him as a defense intelligence agent in the very gripping "Holiday" ; the film was outwardly different from most of the big A stars film dealing with heist and robbery. Akshay's has started they year with a good note as expected, he's films will now be more anticipated by the audience , waiting eagerly for "Main Gabbar" . :)

  • Kill Dil:

Gokul ... Prabhudeva's last two films were huge disappointment in terms of exceptations, however they did managed to recover their investment with a smidge profit. Action Jackason stars Ajay Devgn and the fact that it is a remake of telgu flick 'Dokodu' which was a massive hit, leaves no room to doubt the film's potential.
@Anuj i vehmently agree ur assessment about Ranveer, he's being eulogized by the paid critics and media and he's boastful of his pseduo fake acting credential.

I m fed up of these films which are frequently being churned out, how many times would a viewer be hammered to watch the same regressive cinema (Desi Kattey & Gunday) every friday with different faces. They have run out of ideas and hence keep repeating the retro masala type entertainment which appears cliched and banal in todays era. I am saving my 250 rupees for Action Jacksion and PK.

Hmm ... The film was banned for six years, the controversial painter and his hedonist art depicted explicitly in the film is audacious and commendable. Filmmakers ought to make more movies in this dimensio, bored of masala 100cr club, item number obssessed film. Nice review , keep it up !!. :) :)

Meetu... I am having a feeling that u have been generous to this SRK 'spectacle' since it has been directed by a lady. I disagree with ur analysid about Abhishek Bachan'( feel bad for him as an actor), most reviwers and critics found his performance ameilorating. I won't drawn parallel with ur review since i always read ur reviews each friday and mostly share similar opinion.

@anuj : ur assessment about SRK film being watched by only young blokes, chicks ,aloo gobi munching aunties and LGBT community is affronting. I did 'laugh out loud' reading your comment but don't equate everybody in that category. I suggest you to watch the film even if it doesn't suit ur taste. By d way; i checked ur blog, it is quite detailed and concise to read about the box office results.

  • Singham Returns:

Had it been Salman Khan movie Meetu would have denounced it "Switch channels if it's in cable" or "Even the keen wait for DVD". However i do agree with your review to some extent, i found the film too predicate and routine. It's all usual bash up, punches, nerve chuckles and cars toppling each other in explosion muddled up together to make a film that allows our Hero alias "Singham" to manifest his upright honest benevolent cop. The chemistry between Kareena and Ajay was absolute boredom whilst Amol Gupte as a fraudulent baba was the worst villainous performance i ve seen in years. I don't understand why Rohit Shetty went on to include some much of media references in the film; perhaps he was taking a jibe with critics who usually thrash his work and therefore we had a "Barkha Dutt" type new reporter :P . That said the movie is palatable intermittently, the overall execution is a relentless sequence of events and actions that seems forced in the script. On the contrary it deserves a watch and will successful amass good revenues at the box office.

  • It's Entertainment:

Fan .. u will agree with me, this film had no element of entertainment to merit itself as "Masala" or box office success. The jokes were lousy, repetitive and kindergarten, the pun used in the film wasn't funny at all barring few exceptions. Compared to Rowdy, Housefull and the very intelligent Holiday, it was a total misfire. I firmly believe people will find it hard to digest its overall plot and if it does reach the coveted 100cr club, i would be left dumbstruck.

  • It's Entertainment:

A film critic rates the film based on the prowess of character development, script analysis, background, pace etc.If every critic starts giving 5 star to every movie then virtually there would be no more film critics in the industry. I agree that critics should appreciate such films which are promoted with "masala" tag but then would it really work for them. What's the point in reviewing when films cannot be compared or discussed. Please understand "Meetu" is no "Taran Adarsh" who always reviews so favorably that nobody takes them seriously.

  • It's Entertainment:

I am finding a lot of reviewers bewildered to the use of "entertainment" as a metaphor and the needless social commentary in the script, the film's attempt to establish how entertainment has been masqueraded over the years with low brainless films intriguing but in the hands of Akshay is shocking a bit.Perhaps this is the reason why you found the film theme "murder of entertainment".The review is very sensible and interesting to read, some how this film did succeed u to use your brain in the review.: am not taking a jibe at you Meetu, thanks . :)

Meetu i buy ur line of argument, i consider you a good critic whose reviews reflects intergrity and fairness but this review of urs was erroneous which left offended after reading . I can understand how does it feels to see ur hubby enjoying a film that u have disagreed to rate. It's ur job to review a film and ur entitled to your opinion by expressing your thoughts and views, i am nobody to give u suggestion or for that matter be critical.

@Siddharth i often find Meetu reviews quite reasonable and honest but i found myself bewildered to see a review where fans lack of merit are blamed for film's revenue.

Meetu u ave always been harsh on Salman Khan, it isn't surprising to see that u did not rated the film. Your review is directed towards Salman fan's who according to u don't ave brains and are ready to appreciate any Salman Khan film despite aving flaws. I can belie your wrath against Salman's lack of acting skills , let me tell u had Salman not starred in films like Dabangg, Ready, Bodygaurd etc these film woudn't ave super blockbuster merely for Salman's presence in the movie.

  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

Pradeep i don't agree with you at all, the film is superbly written and bears a striking difference from earlier Marvel superhero films. Chris Evans has meticulously performed his part emphasizing lot of emotional content. Also it is surprising to see the directors focus much on the part of the film's execution by reducing CGI spectacle to a relative minimum in favor of reviving the pleasures of hard-driving old-school action, surprising character development and intriguing suspense.

  • Main Tera Hero:

Meetu these days Bollywood is only churning out glossy romantic films blended with slapstick comedy. Frankly speaking; i wasn't expecting the film as none of the actors are known for their talents and equally depressed to see the same repeated formula each week. Gunday, Hasee toh Phasee and now Main Tera Hero; all of them seems to be widely similar when it comes to the box office prospects. :(

Well Aamir is doing something unusual this time , perhaps he has tired out of playing roles where he manifest his impeccable acting skills ( Talaash , tare Zameen par etc) . There is a no doubt he is one of the great actors of Bollywood and audiences are eagerly anticipating it, but u know even a "God King can fall " :P . Filmakers are always experimenting , this film, needless to say is an utter failure both in writing and performances. What compelled Tigmanshu who gave us the atheletic turned dacoit enthralling film "Paan Singh Tomar" to detour and try out Rohit shetty and Prabhudeva style. I am not lambasting the entire film , its witty dialouges coated with humour was excellent but it never follows the premise. At one point of time i completely lost the track and there was no means to follow the story .

Sweta , dis is one film admired by d critics and i found it to b heavily flawed. First d painsticking length of d film, secondly its story which is haphazardly inspired from so many films most closely to "Battle Royale". I am not going to argue wid u about abt ur likeness to dis film , i m only going to say i didn't found any merit in d movie back den.

Anup thanks for d thanks , i do rate movies in IMDB and love to read user reviews and goofs and trivias in that website . But i don't think it's authentic , whilst it does accounts to film viewrship. The problem is most cinemagoers don't vote especially in our country. Some ratings u will definetly find inappropriate ex Gunda 7.6 , kaante 4.4 . Do u think these movies deserves those ratings. I believe dere is no authentic parameters to judge a movie and ur taste can't become d staple taste of every viewr. But Imdb is considered most reliable and d only forum where u get honest rating worldwide. Same goes for Rotten Tomatoes , where above 80% is considered "fresh".

  • Krrish 3:

Fully agree wid u Meetu. The story is an silly amalgmation of several marvel superhero movies. Some scenes are directly lifted (opening scene reminscent of Superman returns) and others being heavily inspired. I wonder whether Sr Roshan had watched X men or not before writing d part of "Kaal" played by Vivek which reminds Dr Xavier of X men. This major flaw in d script (unoriginal) is needless to say hard to digest and works against d film despite good performance by its lead nd supporting cast. The songs were neither melidous nor palatable and i wasn't expecting much. At d end its d charismatic performance of Hrithik both as father and son fighting against evil forces , glued me to the seat . Apart from dat the homegrown vfx is worth watching and there are tid bits which will make u stunned. Therefore if u are ready to ignore d plot nd enjoy d ride of Krissh 3 u must sample dis as i did. Thumbs up

Besharam is d kind of movie which gives u schziophernia and miagrain. I walked out of the hall after interval without torturing myself further, not only my expectations were havoced , i had one of d most terrible expreince due to its insane screenplay nd plot. Randbir Kapoor was simply unbearable, his parents were atleast watchable. Abhinav Kashyap thought may be he can pull another hit by repeating the dabang formula but he forgot Randbir is no Salman who can uplift such gigantic level of trash.

Lonely hapless man suddenly intrigued by a mis delivered lunch box. The quest to find this unknown person was an intresting premise . Love takes place unexpectedly and the film dwells it beautifuly. Characters are well written and performed with grace , the neighbour aunty whose identity is never reavled was d best . Overall the movie is good but lack of any dramatic confrontation and its over simplistic approach, fails to generate awe and remains being a simple romantic story.

@silent rebellion I am not telling people when they should comment and when they should not? ; these are your words . You are entitled to express ur opinions and views . If u are debating on the issue of who has better understanding of cinema , then u better stick to the point. Comparing a film release with the selling and usage of Drugs and Tobacco to sickheads is simply absurd because they are different entities . You said that even cigarette sellers sell
their products with a warning message -
'Cigarette smoking is injurious to health. There is a regulatory board called CBFC which certifies film viewership. Look bro !everybody has its likes and dislikes , lets not quarel among each other to be politically correct. Yo have ur own reasons and i ave mine.

Meetu i wasn't refering to u , i was addressing to the comments laid by some of the users. In this age of extensive marketing and promotion many critics do fell prey to the cosmetic PR. Being an ardent reader of ur reviews since 2009

Never underestimate a director's potential and for dat reason don't jump to conclusion so early . This is the same director who probably took the first succesfull step towards adult comedy in 2003 . He also conjured santazied comedy in 2007 with rib tickling characters . I would suggest if u hate a particular genre its better u said stay away from commenting. There is a niche audience who do feel entertained by it.

  • Shuddh Desi Romance:

The film tries too hard to be realistic, depending extensively upon smart one liners and dialouges. It does intrigues the audience but i felt the story could ave been more poignant , had the swashbuckling characters of the two leads been quite seriously portrayed. One time watch and this isn't a desi romance.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan failed ( yash chopra ) and now trying to re invent himself with a slapstick comic director , the film was ovious to have flaws. Over the years the romantic family entertainting formula has turned cliched. Audience don't feel entertained anymore. Loyal fans who have accumulated in numbers adhere these pictures.
