@meetu,i have not seen the movie but I must say that u have some way judging a movie. And I feel that u r too hung up on "story" all the time. Unless it is bachpan se lekar budhape ki kahani, it's not a story :)
@Fan... This topic of religion-social-political nexus is very vast. This film is about an outsiders' perspective about our (humans on earth) relationship with God. Its about how this is overwhelming and confusing for a person who does not belong here. I think it was successful in giving an overall picture and establishing the faith confusion. If it would have tried to touch upon more, still it would not satisfy many of us. We would ask why only Hinduism and Islam, talk about all religions...why terrorism in India, other geographic regions have different socio-political, religion, culture issues. The movie did what could be touched upon in 2plus hours. For more..lets see what's in Ranbir Kapoor's agenda :)
@Fan.. the movie did not say - don't have faith in God. It just says don't have faith in godmen who make rules for you. Believe in your own god, not the god made by these godmen. The Jaggu betrayal was not about a Pakistani, it was a simple example how you can ruin your life by having blind faith in Godmen. In normal circumstances Jaggu would have questioned the letter like you did but Godman words regarding betrayal stuck to her mind. This did not let her think rationally. ....Peace....
@Anuj I completely agree with you and appreciate your knowledge on movie economics. But please try to be less aggressive. Also, what's your take on boxofficeindia.com info, I usually follow that.
@Anuj, @ Fan I understood that wogma is just a blog after Dabbang's review. Here is Meetu's reply (during dabbang discussions although I don't know why I can't see my posts) point by point on why it is OK for a reviewer to not understand the audience pulse at all. Meetu's reply - @Pragya Nope, I don't think a reviewer's role includes predicting 'how well it will be liked by the junta' because -1. No one person can claim to predict how a certain thing (in this case let's say a movie) one thing will be liked by another person. Even if they are the closest friend or share the same blood. 2. That one person change with time.3. That person can be in different moods at different times.4. Not to mention enjoyment can differ depending on who you are watching the film with.5. Junta is not one person and thus certainly not that one person.I don't know how any one person can be expected to figure out what a junta might like. Even a majority of 'junta' is a huge number. Not to mention, even if you divide the junta into whatever categories, each category still has a whole load of junta in it.
Hey Meetu, I know Abbas Mastan movies are low on IQ but what is the profit you are talking aboutt? Aditya Pancholi gave 15B and was getting back nothing. The whole 20B was replaced by fake bonds.
JJ, why r u giving the movie away....
