The first I heard about Singham, I heard of it as Ajay Devgn's Dabangg. And what else can you say, when you see this -
And then, combine it with this -
The director's note on the official site says, "a relatable slice of life that will bring a smile and pride to every single person watching Singham"And then. And all I can think of is "anything but!" Especially, the action and dance sequences are larger than life. I actually liked the huge canvas. If the film has been edited anything like the promo, just the editing might make the film worth a watch.
That combined with the "cool" action will be totally worth it. Who cares about dialogue and its delivery, then. The only hitch is that I'll still need a story. Something to differentiate it, anything that will make it more of Singham's film and less of an Ajay Devgn film.
However, it is highly unlikely that the film is going to have much of a plot. It looks like the action is going to drive the story, if any, than the other way round.
I am also looking forward to the genre shift by Rohit Shetty. Of course, I'm no big fan of his Golmaal franchise. Nevertheless, the stylization of the promo and Singham's character itself make me feel like this might have been his calling.
Though there was a strong buzz around Singham when the first promo came out, the songs haven't created much of an impact. I think, the songs will be more about the visuals and will make a better impact when seen along with the context. Anyway, here are some music reviews -
Music reviews:
milliblog - " If there’s anything going against this short, highly listenable album, it may only be your awareness of Ajay-Atul’s previous, superior Marathi repertoire. "
Music Aloud - "6.5/10"
Bolly Spice - "3/5"
Bollywood Hungama - "2/5"
HappySing - " Do buy, do listen."
Planet Radiocity - "2/5"

singham roar' sunai diya.excellent movie. khans beware action super star ajay is back like a lion.
please dont review any movie again.this job is not for you
In real life, you can't do better than online petitions and candle light vigils. What a tag line at the end in your review (superb!)others said like Ajay Devgn fans won't be dissappointed.Well said Meetu keep going. Here is mine Rohit stop playing chor police with Ajay and all those cars.
Saw harry potter yesterday though it was a good movie couldnt help feeling slightly underwhelemed since many important parts are cut out from the movie.will watch singham on dvd.
watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and was very pleased with how well it stuck to the book. Because of this, I had high expectations for Part 2. I mean, if you did so well in the first half, you have to do just as well in the second half, right? Right? Wrong.
The movie started off very well, starting from exactly where it left off in Part 1 and staying faithful to the book all the way to when Harry and co break into Hogwarts. That's where it starts to go down hill.
*Spoilers!*
The good:
- Neville. He was perfectly perfect even though his line was corny and melodramatic and his killing of nagini was not like in the book still not his fault though. I really wish they gave him more screen time because he was adorable.
- The Gringott's scene. Very well done.
- The emotion we are shown from Snape. . In the pensieve, we see a different side of him and it is a refreshing change and he deserves a oscar nod for his role.
- The battle at Hogwarts. It was intense and special effects were first rate.
- Rupert Grint and Dan Radcliffe and the rest of the cast. All of them give wonderful perfomances espescially dan who really gets into harrys character
OK you know it's bad when I resort to writing about that.
The bad:
- They completely took out the scene where Harry and Luna go into the Ravenclaw Common Room, where they are ambushed by one of the Carrows. It appeared as if they would show it, as I hope they would (I've always wanted to see the other common rooms), but then they don't. Hm.
- Fred's death scene. was hurried and not enough of an emotional moment nor do we see percys emotional outburst which was an very emotional moment. This was an insult to his character's memory.
- Crabbe's disappeared. Gets replaced by Zabini, and replaced in a different way by Goyle.
- Snape's memories are rushed and they take out some of the most interesting memories. They just go through a few of them quickly. I've always enjoyed the memories, because you get to see life at Hogwarts through the eyes of someone else for a change, in a different time era.
Some portions are over dramatizied for the sake of being epic and some of the soul of the books are sacrificed.
- There is not a single mention of Teddy Lupin. That is, until the end when Harry suddenly knows about Lupin's son. Weird, considering Harry was camping in a forest and hadn't heard of any of this.
- Collin Creevey is replaced by that random Nigel kid.Who the hell is nigel? He is not in the book.If they could keep a character not in the book then why was charley weasley never introduced?
- Still no mention of the significance of the horcruxes. Hufflepuff's cup is just a plain old cup that Voldy turned into a horcrux.
- Not enough interaction with characters other than the trio. Too much Harry. It's as if everybody else just have cameos.
-Malfoy who was seen bossing his friends till now finally breaks down and grieves over his lost friend showing his emotional side as well.
- Voldemort's and Bellatrix's death = explosion into confetti! Was ridiculous to say the least.Avada kedavra dosent causes bodies to burst. It causes instant death.
- Percy's on the good side all of a sudden. No explanation at all (a reoccurring theme with Yates, don't you think?).
- Harry does not fix his old wand with the Elder Wand. No, instead he takes the Elder Wand and SNAPS IT IN HALF. Is that even possible? I didn't think so. So Harry breaks the wand and then chucks it into the abyss. Really Yates, really?
- Goodbye Dumbledore's back story!
- Haary goes into the room of requirements without ron and hermione so when they suddenly come there after a while how did they know where to find harry? Also Harry is not congragulated by one person for defeating the invincible Voldermort.Shame.There is no felling of glory that such a thing is over.
-Very little is mentioned of the deathly hallows and that is a central theme in the book.
*End of Spoilers*
All in all, all of the personality and charm of the series was zapped away in an attempts to make this final movie is action-packed as possible. It's a shame to see something that you've grown up with, learned to love, taken and twisted into somebody's 'vision.' I mean, why bother adding your own unimportant scenes to the movie, when there are perfectly good ones in the book that you did not bother using at all? There's no...bonding with the characters, no connection with them you felt in Part 1. I did not feel the love for this movie like I had with the book. There was just so much significance that was left out of that movie, and it is such a shame. It had such potential to be a fantastic movie, and it fell short all because of the changes that were unnecessarily made.Still it was a good movie and all the changes makes it a dissapointing one not bad but it could have been lot better.
Dont ever give any reviews again.. I will never come again to this site to see movie reviews.. You guys give reviews without watching movies.. Singham is awesome movie and deserver 4plus rating...
@Shashank why this on Singham's review, would you like to paste your comments on http://wogma.com/movie/harry-potter-and-deathly-hallows-part-2-review/
I can delete the HP comments from here if you like.
@All I love Ajay Devgn. I had the biggest girlie crush on him, in fact I've been laughed at for liking him at all. And yet, if I don't like his movie as much as you guys do, I don't right? :D
@meetu-how was my review?I would have loved your reaction on it
I liked the film. It's a good action genre film with a lot of comedy and certainly miles ahead of Dabangg (that most of us end up comparing it with). I watched it in Priya cinema hall (South Delhi) and everyone occasionally laughed or clapped.
I am surprised you gave the Dabangg direction 2.5 points and Singham 2 points! I would say Rohit Shetty has done a good job here. Dabangg deserved 1 point for direction and Singham deserves 2.5 or 3 for direction. I wish I could write my own review here (as a post) but I found no open invitation for guest reviews.
best pic. i am a huge fan of ajay
Singham is a very nice movie.its a awesome movie nice to see in watch-hindi-movies
How can a star like Ajay Devgn be so senseless in the movie to say some dialogue in a movie which is offensive to the Kannadigas, maybe the blame is shared by the director and writer or whoever, but i just cannot beleive that these words of communalism came from the mouth of a person who i always admired in his Bhagat Singh role.
The movie might be good, and i also had good respect for Ajay Devgn, he's been a great actor and a good person from my perspective but this act of foolishness, i am not liking him or the team, go to hell. Who cares what others say, it has hurt the sentiments of Karnataka and Kannadigas who have always appreciated good hindi cinema very unlike its south counterparts.
N these kind of things isnt something to be taken sportively or just for a movie, this is really offensive.
The movie was also remade in Kannada but there is nothing in the movie that hurts someone's sentiments.
Learn some manners to be conventional and clean.
Meetu it's been close to one week since the movie released and there is no external reviews for this movie, am waiting for it since Monday as WOGMA is the only exclusive website for all those critics reviews .I request you to please add them if you see this post.
@shashank can we move the harry potter discussion to the harry potter page please?
@vikas :D drop me an e-mail. I'm always open to having more reviewers on board.
@K S can you clarify what you are talking about?
@guddu yep, i do it on Mondays, had to go out of town, so wasn't able to do it. I'm on it, should be out in an hour or so.
It sucked... dunno why people are calling it a good actioner when there is no action in the climax...
Besides, the tone is not consistent and the jokes and the serious part do not gel...
I am not a Dabangg fan either, but at least it was consistent in tone throughout the film...
Also, I'm sick of these comical action sequences with incompetent CGI... if you are making an action film, please take action seriously... forget slo-mos & gimme sunny deol of yore anyday...
Went to watch this movie with high expectations. After all, Ajay Devgan (one of my favourite "serious actors") was starring in it. Sorry, Ajay, but this movie just sucked! The dialogs were so loud and over-the-top, that they started to grate on the nerves. The action choreography proves that most Bollywood action directors and stunt-masters have no concept of gravity and physics or have even been in or seen an actual fight. It was reduced to looking like a cartoon (hell, Tom and Jerry shorts have better fight scenes). The characters were all stereotypical caricatures. We have the tough and uber-honest cop, the blacker-than-black villain (with henchmen) and the virginal and pure damsel. Even if we ignore all the above and simply watch it as a total Masala flick, it all comes to naught in the (anti-) climax, which totally fizzles.
Come on, Ajay, you gave us such entertainers like Company, Gangajal, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Apaharan and acted brilliantly in them. What happened here? Your older films (like Jigar, Platform) are better than this one.
People talk about retro being chic nowadays in regards to Masala flicks becoming popular again. However, movies like this just looks outdated.
Movie has typical story about typical war between a policeman and powerful politician. Some scenes are seems like Dabangg. Action, script, dialogues, story, characters, all aren't impressive. Music and songs are also dumb. So overall it is a big flop.
Ajay Devgan's best movie till yet,he worked very well in 'Singham'.I love the action packed drama.

@RGK I agree I'd much rather watch Ajay Devgan in the films you mentioned than in something like a Golmaal or Singham. But then, its good to see variety too.
@Suman i thought it was ok-types
