Kai Po Che - Preview

wogma rating: Add to 'must watch' list (?)
quick review:

Kai Po Che is sketchy yet engaging. It is abrupt and half-baked but the performances and music alone make the film worth a watch. The rest is taken care of by the close-to-home themes.

A Chetan Bhagat novel reads more or less like a screenplay. So, it is only fitting that it finds its way to becoming a film. They are easy reads and the stories are interesting even if not well-written from a literature point of view. This also means the film-maker gets a chance to add flourishes and make the narrative of the film worth sitting up for.

If the trailer is anything to go by, it is indeed going to be a film which will engage and involve. A film about friendship comes in with the audience on its side. Not only is it brought by the makers of Rang De Basanti and director of Rock On!, both of which have a strong base of friendship, even if the backdrops are different, it also reminds of you many such films, from Dil Chahta Hai to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and of course 3 Idiots on its way - all of which were enjoyable films.

It has an added bonus of non-star actors. Raj Kumar Yadav has proven himself and it will be fresh to see him as a non-sleazy and main character. The others too look like they fit the bill. Amit Trivedi's music sounds fresh, has already been appreciated and has always know to help the mood.

I am up for more fresh.
