quick review:

I don't remember the last time my emotions were engaged in a thriller, let alone a pounding heart and racing mind. A psychological thriller that hooks, thrills and keeps you thinking after it is done.

Thumbs down by Mayank Shekhar, ABP Live ...Every moment in this pic is over-stated and obviously underlined. ... full review

Thumbs up by Anna MM Vetticad, annavetticadgoes2themovies ... a unique thriller for parents of sons and daughters, for those with a point of view on stalking, voyeurism, police high-handedness, the nature of life in small towns, definitions of self-defence and the power of the visual.... full review

Thumbs up by Naresh Kumar Deoshi, Apun Ka Choice ...‘Drishyam’ is not your run-of-the-mill thriller. Director Nishikant Kamat executes some really interesting sequences, particularly the ones involving Tabu and Ajay Devgn. However, he fails to keep a check on the runtime and the gratuitous melodrama. ... full review

Thumbs up Bollywood Hungama ...On the whole, DRISHYAM is an absolute winner that keeps you hooked completely right till the end. It is definitely a must watch movie this weekend.... full review

So-So by Tushar Joshi, Bollywood Life ...Drishyam is worth a watch. It has a strong engaging second half that will have you on the edge of your seat. Watch it for some terrific performances from Ajay and Tabu.... full review

Thumbs up by Karan Raikar, BookmyShow ...Drishyam is everything a Bollywood film should be – smart, hard-hitting and story-driven. It’s a must-watch, especially if you enjoy suspense films!... full review

So-So by Deepa Gahlot, cinemaah ... For those who haven’t seen the Southern versions, the Hindi Drishyam is worth a look. ... full review

So-So by Suparna Sharma, Deccan Chronicle ...Strangely, Tabu, whose IG Meera in uniform gets a dramatic hero’s entry, does absolutely nothing. Sure, it’s only an outline of a character. But there are intense scenes she sleepwalks through in terribly distracting falsies.... full review

Thumbs up by Yatharth Chauhan, Desi Martini ...An edgy thriller toppled with Ajay Devgn at his comforting best!... full review

Thumbs up by Smita Vyas Kumar, Desi Martini ...A superbly taut drama. Totally worth a watch... full review

Thumbs up by Parampara Patil Hashmi, Desi Martini ...Get ready to get your mind blown with Drishyam!... full review

So-So by Bryan Durham, DNA ...This film isn't so much a whodunnit as much as it is a why- and how-dunnit. But it takes too much time building a convincing case of it. Watch this one for Tabu. Or if you're an Ajay fan.... full review

So-So by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...In the end, it all comes down to the twist ending. The story has all the trappings to keep you engaged and then the surprise climax rounds it all up nicely. But these are things not original to Drishyam’s Hindi iteration. And yet those are the strengths of this film.... full review

So-So by Deepanjana Pal, FirstPost ...In a murder mystery, it isn’t a bad thing if the best scene comes right at the end, with the big reveal. However, if the audience doesn’t really care for any of the characters and if the only reaction the scene elicits is delighted relief because the film is finally over, then the storytelling has failed. Handicapped by its stars, Kamat ends up making a decent film that doesn’t live up to its potential, lacks wow moments and seems too long at 163 minutes. And that’s a shame, because there’s a good story and an intelligent adaptation hidden out of sight in Drishyam.... full review

So-So by Johnson Thomas, Free Press Journal ...This is not really a film about family honor, it’s more of a film about human ingenuity. In fact Vijay Salgaonkar’s ingenious use of cinematic smarts to save his family from incarceration highlights his own descent into corruption!... full review

Thumbs up by Zehra Abbas, fullhyd.com ...Drishyam is worth a watch, especially if you haven't seen any of the other remakes. But is it a great film? It could have been, if they had the guts to cast Tabu as Salgaonkar instead.... full review

Thumbs up by Martin D'Souza, Glamsham.com ...DRISHYAM is a spot-on crime thriller that has some 'heart-in-your-mouth' moments. It's set up in a made-up village called Pondolim in North Goa. What's satisfying about the entire screenplay is that what Vijay is doing on screen is what you will do for your family. Nothing less; after all, family is all that we have! ... full review

Thumbs up by Rohit Vats, Hindustan Times ...Gulzar's lyrics open the film and Vishal Bhardwaj's music keeps haunting you till the end credits roll, ensuring Drishyam's spot in top Hindi suspense films of all time. ... full review

Thumbs up by Rajeev Masand, IBN Live ...When was the last time you enjoyed a film for its gripping plot, its compelling story? Drishyam, with its refreshingly original screenplay and its many moments of tension, is just that. Kamat's Hindi version pales in comparison to both the original Malayalam film and the Tamil remake, but the plot nevertheless keeps you hooked till the end.... full review

So-So by Ananya Bhattacharya, india today ...In all, Drishyam squanders much of its potential, leaving one wondering what the film could have been, had it been executed well. Watch it if you have to, for Ajay and Tabu's display of duelling willpowers. ... full review

So-So by Archita Kashyap, koimoi ...For an engaging battle of wits, watch this film. The second half, thankfully a direct adaptation of the original, also draws you in as audience, making you think of right and wrong, justice & fairness. Also do catch it if you are an Ajay Devgn or Tabu fan. Otherwise, for those who like watching quality films on crime & passion, I would rather leave the decision to you.... full review

Thumbs up by Uday Bhatia, Live Mint ...Drishyam is a solid remake, but would have been much more exciting with Tabu in Vijay’s role and Devgn as the cop.... full review

Thumbs up by Shubha Shetty-Saha, MiD DAY ...But do watch this film for Ajay and Tabu’s performances and of course, that one-in-a-million story. Content, after all, is the key. ... full review

Thumbs up by jaidev Hemmady, Movie Talkies ...With some editing, Kamat could have made a crisper and tauter thriller, but nevertheless, Drishyam is definitely good fun and will have you rooting for the underdog, who takes on the mighty police machinery with an unnerving calm and a methodical mind.... full review

Thumbs up by Divya Solgama, MoviezADDA ...Well, the movie has lots of dum as it has some brilliant performances, gripping screenplay and a neat direction. As they say, good things come to all those who wait and in the case of 'Drishyam', you will have to wait through the initial snail paced part and once you pass this phase you will be rewarded with a relishing brain twister which is a must watch for all those who love good cinema.... full review

So-So by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV ...Drishyam is gripping in parts but is anything but an unblemished humdinger. ... full review

So-So by Raja Sen, Rediff ... Alas, nothing comes of it and we never get a battle between equals. ... full review

So-So by Sonia Chopra, Sify Movies ...Directed by Nishikant Kamat (Force, Mumbai Meri Jaan), the film remains watchable for the story, a few suspenseful moments, and Tabu's electrifying act.... full review

Thumbs up by Jyothi Venkatesh, Star Blockbuster ... If you have seen both the Malayalam as well as the Tamil versions, the Hindi remake will not keep you engrossed. If you haven’t seen them, you better go and watch Drishyam in Hindi, though it needs slicker editing.... full review

So-So by ANUJ KUMAR, The Hindu ...On paper it belongs to Ajay but on screen it is Tabu who walks away with it. And even when she is effortlessly seeking attention, the underrated Rajat Kapoor excels as the husband who retains his sanity amidst the moral chaos... full review

Thumbs up by Meena Iyer, Times of India ...A suspense drama with a nail-biting finish, Drishyam holds the viewer by the eyeballs till its' engaging climax.... full review

So-So yahoo! India ...Since this is a remake of a staggeringly successful film, you wonder why Kamat needed to reinvent the wheel and rob it of its emotional heft and uniqueness. In one scene Meera makes the connection between Vijay and cinema and you think now things will get interesting, but the much needed head-to-head is passed over. While the first half is quite a plod, the second half delivers the twists making ‘Drishyam’ a satisfactory watch, at best.... full review

Thumbs up by Ritika Handoo, ZEENEWS.COM ...Don't miss even a shot, else you will fail to join the dots in a line! Be prepared for this edgy deceptive game!... full review
