What's your rashee?
quick review:
This one is a complete package for Ms. Chopra lovers. The rest - story / songs / execution - all are just about o-kay. And mainly because it requires this WARNING! It is all of 3.5 hours. An option is to treat is as 2 proper length films or 12 short films
This page has additional observations, other than the ones noted in the main review.

"I almost forgot Harman Baweja. I surprise myself when I want to say, I think this guy can do well. "
I agree..
I know! This must have been one of the most understated roles by a protagonist in a long long time.
priyanka u did a very good job in this film
BEAT OF LUCK,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Hi Meeta,
We met at The Indicast get together. I came here looking for this review specifically because I remembered you'd said that you never leave a movie. That's usually my principle too, but I'll tell you what - this movie beat me to it. I left in an hour and 15 minutes. I just COULD NOT sit in! COULD NOT! For 25 mins, I gripped the seat handles and said, 'nahi I'm not leaving, I'm not. This is the guy who made the delightful Lagaan and the endearingly soulful Swades...' but no! He took EVERY ounce of respect I had for him and ran it right into the ground with this piece of S*&T;!
Seriously! A terrible actor (I completely disagree with you on that. Maybe he WILL emerge as a good one in a few films' time, but I don't see any trace of it yet) - and a screenplay which runs itself over 12 bloody times. No thanks man... no can do! Sorry!
Maybe on tv, over the length of an entire wasteful day, I can watch this movie sometime and come back to review and correct my comment, but for the time being, this stands :)
And finally, how are you?
Hey Kartick! Good to see you here. Your comment started me off with a smile and I was laughing out loud by the end of it. :)
Strong sentiments towards a movie usually make me really happy. How do you know screenplay ran 12 times over? Gotchya!!
Anyway, yeah it was quite a bore. Harman had his moments, the rest time will tell. I see him playing second fiddle for a long time to come.
On TV with ads thrown in every 12 minutes, good Lord! Wish you luck with that one, dude!
And finally! I'm doing very well, thank you. Trust you are doing well too.
I'm glad I'm not still suffering from the extended scars of that movie :) moving on quickly...
i liked all the rashees songs in this movie .especially {su che su che} of the rashee [tauris].i liked the way how priyanka chopra dances in all the rashee's.
it was fabulous movie.completely new idea and new story but i strongly feel few of the songs are very boring,un necessesary and thats made movie bit boring.ending was quite thrilling i was chewing my nail to whom hell get married.all and all great movie.i'll give 3/5.it would have been much great movie and story was fabulous.
I liked the songs in the movie, but the story was nothing compared to Kimball Ravenswood by Madhu Rye, I suggest reading it, you can get a copy from his new website www.madhurye.net It's a funny entertaining book..
thanks for the movie details...
meetu - it was long, even by Bollywood standards, but thanks largely to Priyanka Chopra's winning, versatile performance it was enjoyable. Harman Baweja was okay - not great, not horrible and not somebody I'd go out of my way to see in a movie (except he keeps co-starring w/Ms. Chopra, who I would go out of my way to see in a movie).
Actually, my opinion about Mr. Baweja sums up my opinion of this movie - not great, not bad, and not something I'd spend nearly four hours watching again. Since it was on sale at an Indian movie store in Queens, NY and I bought it for under $10, I consider my money and the time of my All-American Bollywood Movie Night friends well-enough spent...and that's all, folks.
@TimELiebe I know, if it had been shorter, it would've made a decent film. And yes, i like Priyanka Chopra too!!
meetu - I've heard the jokes about Hindi movies giving you an entire night's entertainment... whether you want it or not. When even Hindi movies like MUJHSE DOSTI KAROGE! are mocking the length of Indian movies v. Western ones, it's pretty clear we've all noticed.
OTOH, does Mr. Gowariker have a reputation for making Movies That Never End? My wife watched JODHAA AKBAR on her own while she was recovering from knee surgery - and while she said she enjoyed it she sure didn't recommend it to the rest of us All-American Bollywood Movie Nighters! Even though it stars The Two Most Beautiful People In the World, Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan, who we're all big fans of, she still felt we'd all find it a long slog...even on Blu-Ray on our friends' 47" HDTV. (My wife doesn't know it yet, but our next HDTV will probably be that Samsung that's 75" and has 3D.... ::grin:: )
@TimELiebe oh yeah, ALL Ashutosh-Gowariker films are L-O-N-G.
I'm sure your wife will welcome the awesome surprise ;)
