Akshay has made his name BIG in Bollywood. The guy is fantastic. People aren't going to admit it, but he has brought down SRK and Amitabh Bachan. I absolutely loved the movie, we all need a laugh!

The haters can hate, but Imna ignore it.

Also, I've noticed that your ratings are so off, either you're bitching, or your sticking your head up the films non-existent ass. Geeze. Learn something.

Your review comes as a fresh whiff...u won't believe but i have read reviews on singh is kinng where the critic has called the movie Welcome a masterpiece!! Movies like Singh is Kinng are made for one purpose only- to make money, and it will do that pretty well. But I don't understand why the critics are going gaga over such mediocre comedy. How can a critic give both Chak De India and Singh is Kinng the same 4 out of 5 rating?

I absolutely loved the movie, I don't know what you guys are talking about. I'm so sorry to bring the straight truth to you but I think you guys just have a hard time walking away from the normal themes with the Hindu or Muslim heros. I mean really, the story line is great, the comedy is brilliant and the songs are awesome. So if you ask me, you guys just need to watch the movie with an open mind and accept it for what it is. It is a masterpiece and the sooner you come to terms with it, the better.

let me discuss...what & why you not liked...

MUSIC ??? Songs were good.. but only if you know what the lyrics are....

Storyline... it was quite simple...

Hen chase... ooh...have you ever visited any village???.... pitty on you..!!!

Now please tell me what did you found in OSO which was a blockbuster????,,, let me help.. its 'Diwali'.... and look Singh is Kinng is doing good without even diwali...

Well, I did the mistake the third time with this one. They have vowed never to see a Hindi movie recommended by me again. Do I need to say more???

Anurag:

I was surpirsed at the liberal usage of Punjabi phrases in the movie, it was almost like watching a dubbed version of a punjabi movie like Jaspal Bhatti's "Mahaul Theek Hai" (which I feel is a must-watch for every lover of Indian comedies).
When one watches a no-brainer like this, one obvously doesn't expect much from the story, but at least the editing could have been more slick. The continuity jumps here were baffling. Still, I had a good laugh during the movie and found it paisa vasool, my knowledge of punjabi language coming to my aid.
Meeta, I think you have been overly harsh in evaluating the performances of Pritam (Composer) and Supporting Actors (Om Puri and Kirron Kher included).
With a better editor and minus a very irritating Javed Jaffery, this movie could have been much better, but it is still not bad for a one time see.

@ all who loved the movie - great!

@ all who hated the movie - condolences...

@ vimal, of course, I remember! I must say your friends have a good taste in movies :P

@Anurag, welcome back! Well, I just didn't like the music, it annoyed me the first time I heard the title song. Usually many songs grow on me over time, but this one grew in annoyance-value. Om Puri and Kirron Kher were loud and their characters redundant/inconsistent...
"what else can one expect from singh is kinng"...so its okay...if we expect a good film, its trash! Hmmm...how do we sort the inconsistency?

Firstly someone please explain how is one is supposed to "leave your brains behind" and watch a movie. I'm sorry - God has given me a brain and I end up using it regardless. The movie was unreasonabaly unrealistic and, barring a couple of actors, poorly performed. I think i gave up trying to figure out the "story" well before the half way mark. Not entertaining in the least - a few scenes actually had me tearing my hair out in frustration. Really guys... can't entertainment be made of better stuff???

note 2- i found absolutely nothing wrong in om puri's and kirron kher's acting. PUnjabi's in general seem to be loud.

changing words is a common practise in bollywood- kismat konnection, c kompany etc. so why pick on this one? U will understand the reason of why charachter calls himself king if u watch the movie. the lead actor himself does not call himself a king, unlike a pompous star called shock horror shock look "KING KONG sorry KHAN".

Enjoy what? One person pissing on another’s face? A table fan threatening a crotch? A random scene with people playing cricket patchily edited and forced in between two other random scenes - just so that the third person in the love triangle can get all jealous when a couple end up lying on each other while trying to grab a catch?
u do have a point. but SIK is a dumb and dumber type movie. if i remember it too had a scene where jim carrey pisses in a bottle and an unsuspecting copper drinks it. i mean u will find crude and non sensical scenes in all woods of the world hollywood or bollywood. i think the directors mean to say bring a brain to the theatre at ur own risk. :)

Hello Meetu,

We all know how the movie turned out to be, didn't live up to the expectation at all. Namaste London, seems like still maintains as being the only good movie from this duo...

It's a little late to reply to this particular blog/review, whatever you may call it, but I'd like to tell you that Singh is King, as a line is as famous as Marathi's say, Marathi Manus (marauthi human).

It's just a line which is famous in Punjab. So is this one -> Jatt is Risky, after Whisky.. Now it might seem funny, but that is the only intention, you see, like crazy americans, when we get drunk, its hard to keep us on our seats, and I guess that's the only intention anyone who ever drinks, has, getting high...

Not moving away from the topic, Singh is King is a very famous quote you'd find behind the cars of all the handsome, yet good hearted, punjabi hunks in cities such as Chandigarh...

And I believe the title of the movie is just an expression, not necessarily, something to do with the movie,,, for e.g. take hollywood -> American Pie ... I dont even want to explain why it was named that. :)
