quick review:

Would it have worked if it were shorter? Naah, it would have been as tedious and boring.

My eyes hurt! Yes, just from the two-minute trailer, I feel like shutting my eyes to give them a rest. It is not the colors, it is the glitter – like that of a TV serial. In fact, the colors are gorgeous! I remember from the time I lived in the US – when Hindi movies were a once in six months affair - I could watch a Hindi film just for the colors on screen. I can imagine myself lapping up Prem Ratan Dhan Payo just for that – if it were back then, that is.

Now, I am older and hopefully wiser and I watch an average of one Hindi film a week. For better or for worse, my requirements have increased – I certainly need a movie to have more than elegant women wearing lovely color combinations.

Of that though, I have little hope with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The lavish backdrop, the wedding atmosphere, the rivalry all seem too repetitive, even if it is just through trailers. While, the lilt in the trailer is inescapable, it is unlikely that it will last for too long.
