Starts off and continues with awful dubbing, follows up with mostly awful acting, fills up with reinforcing stereotypes and finishes up with predictable story-telling.

Thumbs down by Anna MM Vetticad, annavetticadgoes2themovies ...Here’s a thought: Filmein toh bahut banti hai, par kuchh filmein aisi hai jo release nahin honi chahiye. After Calendar Girls, it will take a lot for Madhur Bhandarkar to redeem himself. ... full review

Thumbs down by Baradwaj Rangan, Blogical Conclusion, The New Sunday Express ... bad lines, bad makeup, bad clothes. And bad co-stars. At some point, the film gets all meta on us by having Madhur Bhandarkar appear as himself. He sings his praises without a hint of self-awareness, without an iota of shame. I finally understood why his films don’t have comedy tracks. His delusions inspire more laughs than anything he could dream up.... full review

So-So by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice ...Oh , I forgot. There is Suhel Seth playing Vijay Mallaya. Not an easy role to play. And this is not an easy film to make.Bhandarkar manages to make it look easy fluent and fluid most of the way. ... full review

Thumbs up Bollywood Hungama ...On the whole, CALENDAR GIRLS can be watched for its wholesome entertainment value, hard hitting drama and engaging narrative. Or like Madhur Bhandarkar himself would describe it in one word.... 'Jalwa'! ... full review

Thumbs down by Preetii Kulkarni, Bollywood Life ...If Heroine was bad enough, this film is worse. The girls flit through the frame listlessly. They mouth hilarious dialogues and try to make sense through the wafer thin plot. So, after watching this film there is only one question which pops in my mind. Why, Madhur, for the love of God, would you dare to make such a film? ... full review

Thumbs up by Juhi Matta, BookmyShow ...Whether you’re a fan of honest, cutthroat cinema or masala entertainers, Calendar Girls will appeal to you. The film offers the best of both worlds, ensuring that the viewer is entertained without ever compromising on its brutal honesty. If you’ve enjoyed Madhur Bhandarkar‘s work so far, you are bound to love this film, too. ... full review

Thumbs down by Deepa Gahlot, cinemaah ...The plot is superficial, the dialogue is awful and the film shoddy in every way. Not one of the girls can act—maybe that was not the criterion for casting them. Bhandarkar could pass off his previous cut-rate cautionary tales as exposes, Calendar Girls is just a crass, feel-bad film. ... full review

Thumbs down by Suparna Sharma, Deccan Chronicle ...While trying to show how predatory men and women feed on women who are confident enough to use their beauty and body to achieve success, he does exactly that. Almost every scene, every dress, every touch is shamelessly mercenary and seedy. ... full review

Thumbs down by Tushar P. Joshi, DNA ...What to do: Calendar Girls is Madhur Bhandarkar's weakest attempt at trying to revisit his old formula and create something interesting. Stay away. ... full review

Thumbs down Economic Times ...While Madhur Bhandarkar tries washing away the grease paint off the glamour industry, he desperately seems to be recycling the content from his previous films, thus offering nothing new to his audience.... full review

Thumbs up by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...Calendar Girls is more than a decent watch. It's takes a frivolous subject and weaves an engaging story around it. ... full review

So-So by Gayatri Gauri, FirstPost ...Calendar Girls works purely because of its debutante actresses, along with their male co-actors. Simply put, their performances rock ... full review

So-So by Johnson Thomas, Free Press Journal ...Anil Pandey’s screenplay and story lacks definition and bite while Abhiruchi Chand’s dialogues are devoid of any sharpness or depth. So it’s all left to cinematographer Harri Vendaantum and editor Devendra Murdeshwar to pick up the slack.... full review

Thumbs down by Nupur Barua, ...Like most Madhur Bhandarkar movies, the production design falls flat on its face, as does the music. The cinematography is rather shoddy, which is where the root of the problem lies. The visuals are just not pleasing enough, nor do they seem authentic. The music is equally insipid. In short, Calendar Girls is just another Madhur Bhandarkar movie that relies too heavily on the shock value and on monotonous clichés, as opposed to a tight script. ... full review

Thumbs down by Martin D'Souza, ...Move on Madhur, films like HEROINE and CALENDAR GIRLS don't work, not if you have no insight and intelligence to flesh it out. Maybe you could do a movie called 'Director'.... full review

Thumbs down by Sweta Kaushal, Hindustan Times ...Bhandarkar had a revealing, emotional and realistic story at hand; something that could have made for a compelling watch. The narration, bland and plain dialogues and bad acting (save for one or two actors), however, kills the experience. Yes, you won’t lose much even if you give a miss to this film. ... full review

Thumbs down by Mihir Fadnavis, Hindustan Times ...There’s one sequence in which a series of lecherous men exploits the nubile young girls; the lack of subtlety is unsettling and the poor direction makes it unintentionally funny, so you end up laughing helplessly as the tacky melodrama unfolds on the screen. ... full review

Thumbs down by Shomini Sen, IBN Live ...In fact, the film’s biggest flaw is that it fails to surprise the audience making the entire experience dull. There were moments where the audience in the theater were completing sentences before the dialogues were said on screen. ... full review

Thumbs down by Surabhi Redkar, koimoi ...Calendar Girls is a complete let down on all fronts, acting, writing and direction. Nothing real or reel in this film is appealing and hence I am going with a 1.5/5 for the film. ... full review

Thumbs down by Uday Bhatia, Live Mint ...The writing, especially the English dialogue, just makes things worse. ... full review

Thumbs down by Shubha Shetty-Saha, MiD DAY ...What worked for Bhandarkar in 2005 in 'Page 3' can obviously not work in 2015 because he is unimaginatively and rather cockily serving us the same dish in a different plate. ... full review

Thumbs down by Jaidev Hemmady, Movie Talkies ...The only good thing about Calendar Girls is that it will provoke many guffaws owing to its unintentionally hilarious scenes and dialogues. ... full review

So-So by Divya Solgama, MoviezADDA ...Dum??? Well, if you are expecting a hard-hitting film like Madhur's classic films, then you will end up with a huge disappointment. But as said earlier, in comparison with his last few realistic films, this movie has something better to offer. This calendar might not be something to cherish for a lifetime, but still has few events of likes and dislikes. ... full review

Thumbs down by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV ...Adman and occasional actor Suhel Seth pops up in a few scenes in the guise of a flashy entrepreneur. His opening line, spoken in a boardroom, sums up the film: Why are you guys behaving like dolts?Take the cue. Give Calendar Girls a miss. ... full review

Thumbs down by Raja Sen, Rediff ...The waiters, the nameless models, the random Rajasthani turban'd footmen, the young man leading a chant outside the Pakistani model's house in Bandra... They're all trying to get noticed by standing out, and Bhandarkar never seems to care that each of these aspirants -- in their desperate urge to be different -- renders the entire scene incoherent. ... full review

Thumbs down by Sonia Chopra, Sify Movies ...Things end pretty badly for most of these girls, which makes you wonder what the film is trying to say. That you do a "bold kaam" like appearing on a swimsuit calendar and you'll be punished by the morality gods themselves? Or that the world makes sure things are tough for calendar girls? ... full review

So-So by Jyothi Venkatesh, Star Blockbuster ...Last Word: Though it is predictable, the fast pace of the film does not make you bored at all. It is worth a dekho even though it is stereotyped. The voyeurs will be more than happy with what is on show. Literally... full review

So-So by Srijana Mitra Das, Times of India ...Dialogues don't help. Nazneen's boyfriend snarls she'll become a 'bleddy cheapo' while Mayuri is constantly praised, "Tum bahut aage jaogi" - which is not something you can say for this film that, despite all its curves, stays flat. ... full review

Thumbs down yahoo! India ... This nonsense defines this movie, which plays up stereotypes, is performed and produced like it’s a long episode of a TV serial and is clearly meant to titillate and shock.... full review

Thumbs down ZEENEWS.COM ...It might be a good idea to wait for his next, "Airhostess," which is subtly announced in this film. At the end of "Calendar Girls", the film simply states: "Life is all about the individual choices we make." One wonders, if this is actually a warning message for those who intend to watch this film.... full review
