Might be pertinent to note that this is my 2nd comment on your blog ... the first being on Dhobi Ghat!!! I havent seen the movie but watched Kavalan (the "inspiration" behind this one) in-flight. It did exactly the opposite of what Ghajini did to me. After watching the Tamil original, I was keen to watch Aamir's interpretation of the character. Having watched Kavalan and the trailer of Bodyguard (with the exact scenes as in the Tamil version) I am most likely to give this one a miss. And in case you are curious I rate Ghajini (Tamil) a superior product to Aamir's Ghajini. And thanks to your review now I will happily give this one a miss and wait for Mausam instead :-)
PS: Please do not take this personally as it is not meant to be an attack but just a suggestion to provide us users a better review: It might be a good idea to see the south super-hit from which a new release gets inspired. I really disliked the critical acclaim that Aamir & Asin got for Ghajini when all the director of the film did was replace Chennai with Mumbai; Surya with Aamir and edited the last half hour of the Tamil. Damn! its turning into a moan now. Sorry ... no intention to troll.
Cheers!
No worries @Rachit. There are a few problems with watching the South Indian version. Most of them don't have sub-titles. And the other is time. If I'd start a regional section, i'd want to cover as many films in that region as possible. But that will be next to impossible.
And it refused, as if taunting me, "you wanted story, you take story! And here take some more."
LMAO!!
I dont care how much records this film breaks.It is still crap ans so was ready an unbearably agonizing film which was not in the least funny.However big a star Salman might be he cannot act because he sleep walks his role.His films stand on his star power not acting.Sad ,since he showed us how with little effort he can actually be good in Dabaang.
@Dattaprasad glad to bring a laugh! :D :D :D
@Shashank i hear ya!
When newspapers and media will eulogize Salman for breaking some yet another box office record (like biggest BO opening in afternoon show during weekend ) !!, I will mourn for the fact that of that Rs 200 were mine which got wasted due to huge promotion/gimmick/marketing.
@ Rachit : I liked Tamil Ghajini very much and saw the movie 3 times in first week itself but hand over heart ...Aamir did a much better job than Suriya and balance all things similar ...production values were better in the Hindi version
that bad, huh?
Bodyguard is a awesome movie.its a superhit movie and all songs are very good watch this movie in watch-hindi-movies com
Thanks for saving me time, money and dissapointment.
Hahaha, nicely written. Loved the dialogue you quoted and the last line.
Sigh! I had liked the trailer :(
@Vishal heart-felt sympathies.
@Sandy yep!
@deepu oh well...i'm surprised it too so long for a Salman fan to leave a comment here :D
@Nemoneyaware any time!
@kunal thank you! I was hoping readers would appreciate it :)
@Chintan so did you see the movie?
Wow! what a wonderful dialogue..awesome, too good :D
I am not die hard fan of salman, i did watch this movie, and this movie is carried by only person that is salman, he acted so nicely and he justified the charector he played in the movie very smoothly where no one could have done it.. you must watch the movie if you want to see the best performance compare to anyone in the film industry at this point in time..
What I don't understand with such movies is Why do (South) Indian movies have to be "adapted" for Indian tastes?
Ghajini moved from Chennai to Mumbai. The protagonist became a Mumbaikar, not a Tamili.
Kannada's Mungaru Male is apparently being adapted to Indian tastes by basing it in Punjab, when half the charm of that movie was in the scenery.
And why is every South Indian in any Hindi movie look like a relative of Mehmud in Padosan?
Why can't movies be based in South India and use Hindi like Hollywood movies based in Europe using English?
No wonder, most North Indians consider the whole of South India to be Madras.
@Keerthana :D :D :D
@Khwaja really?
@Milind that among many other questions.
Awesome review...superbad movie:-(
arey yar Salman is just Salman...i just went and enjoyed the action, music and whole hall and whistles in a multiplex....nvr had such an amazing experience in any of the multiplex in India.....i enjoyed the whole atmosphere...moreover i wasnt expecting anythng serious from salman....
@ Milind... though most of your points are very valid but in casethe movie is made to be set up in chennai ...then i amongst many will get irritated to find that everyone meeting/knowing the protagonist is using hindi which is very unrealistic ... for example while watching the himdi version of Roja ...there is scene in which Madhu is not able to tell army that her husband is lost ...because she can talk only in a hindi dialect and arymy jawan can't understand hindi ... probably th eonly flaw in otherwise excellent movie (dubbed version)
excellent movie
Don't understand why everybody is trying to find a fault with salman movies.. If u don't like salman, don't watch his movies.. its simple.. Whatever critics say "salman was, is, and will always be a star." His fans adore him, so whats wrong in it.. why are others feeling jealous.. We pay money not to sit like dumbos for the entire 3 hrs.. Salman's movies provide u with all that hustle, bustle and at the end of 3 hrs u r totally entertained and satisfied for the money u paid.. So distractors please stand aside.. We love u sooooooooooo much salman.. Jalnewaalon ko jalne do..
