Zhak Marli Baayko Keli
quick review:
A very valid point about 'losing face' and facing social stigma is raised. But it's too long and long-windedly preachy to hold interest through the end.
This page has additional observations, other than the ones noted in the main review.
Plot Summary
Asmita (Bhagyashree), a virtuous woman who lives in a village gets married to Kuldeep (Bharat Jadhav) from the city. To retain his job Kuldeep has to lie about his marital status only to find his boss being strongly attracted to him. And then the story unrolls.
What Worked
- Some of the scenic long shots to capture the beauty of the bungalow in which Bhagyashree stays were beautiful.
- The fact that the accusations in court are not cheap and scandalous. Have no clue if such an accusation will hold in court. But at least, they tried something different.
What did not
Note: This section simply lists the things that I did not like in this movie. This
is not the overall impression about this movie. Please read the
full review here
- Bhagyashree's dubbing in the first bhajan was absolutely off.
- How come Asmita has never seen her cousin?
- How does Kuldeep get his appointment letter in Mahabaleshwar when he lives in Bombay?
- The supposedly seductive song - Y U C K!
- Bharat Jadhav's wig.
- How come the General Manager doesn't know the turnover of the company?
- The entire argument between the two doctors - what was that all about!?
- How come the parents have no clue of what is going on in their daughter's life?
Nitty-Gritty
This section lists things that I think are not important to the overall impact of the movie. In most cases, it could be explained away by something like, "we noticed the glitch after the scene was shot and there were schedule/budget issues and thus we could not re-shoot it". I like giving the makers the benefit of doubt, but I am amused nevertheless. Hopefully, they will tickle you too.
- The mikes and the boxes for channel names on the mikes! We made a better one for our little video here and here. Not to mention our correspondent and news reporter looked far more seasoned too. ;)
