wogma rating: Watch when on TV (?)
quick review:

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is exactly what you expect. Stereotyping men as poor puppies and women as well...the female kind with a scattered few laughs.

Thumbs up Bollywood Hungama ...The film's music (Hitesh Sonik, Sharib Sabri, Toshi Sabri) is strictly average. None of the songs stay with you. The film's background music (Hitesh Sonik) keeps the audiences hooked to the film. The film's cinematography (Sudhir K. Chaudhary) is decent, the film's editing (Akiv Ali, Ajay Sharma) is crisp. ... full review

Thumbs up by Smita Vyas Kumar, Desi Martini ... A funny fast paced movie of course, from a man's point of view. A fun watch all the same.... full review

Thumbs up by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...PKP2 is definitely worth a watch. The misogyny is present, but it stays in the under current. The story is just fantastic. The film is not just relevant to our times, it is a straight laced portrayal of our lives. The frivolity of modern relationships and the ease with which people deceive themselves are all presented with the right dash of humour. This one is definitely an upgrade on its original. And a very good film for youngsters. ... full review

Thumbs up by VISHAL MENON, ...All said and done, PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2 is a smartly done nonstop fun that assures satisfaction to its followers - today's teens and yesterday's teens. Go for it. ... full review

Thumbs up by Divya Solgama, MoviezADDA ...Dum??? Well, there is lot of fun for all those who love such type of relationship based comical films. It's more entertaining than 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' and is a total "paisa vasool" type of film. The older generation or the family audience might not connect with the theme of this movie as 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2' is a young film made, for young people by the young people. ... full review

Thumbs up by Jyothi Venkatesh, Star Blockbuster ...Last Word: It is a sex comedy which may be liked by the youngsters and among the releases this week, will fare better than the rest ... full review

So-So by Bobby Sing, Bobby Talks ...Having said that, though PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2 surely deserves a good rating for its entertainment factor well taken care of, it still remains ‘a guilty kind of enjoyment’ derived from a one dimensional project sidelining its female characters. Perhaps in the third part we will get to see an equal fight of the sexes scaling much better heights. Till then the boys are definitely going to have a great time in the theater supporting Chauka and more. ... full review

So-So Bollywood Life ...However because of some very likeable performances by the lead cast, you tend to overlook the flaws. The film reaches the intermission point with a quite hilarious scene where the heroes make a.mock parody of the smoking disclaimers, using love instead of cigarettes. Hoping the film maintains the fun and tempo from the first half, while doing something different from the original in the second half!... full review

So-So by Kusumita Das, Deccan Chronicle ...Without getting into the obvious and tempting misogynist debate, seen just as a film, and not a statement, PKP2 gives us an entertaining and engaging two hours. Heartbroken men or men in general can indulge in some self-pity in this funny whine festival, while us villainous women sit back and belt out a few evil laughs, what else. Let’s reserve our cries of protest for more worthwhile occasions. ... full review

So-So by Yatharth Chauhan, Desi Martini ...This one may lead to a lot of breakups yet again!... full review

So-So by Sidhant Shori , Desi Martini ...Packs quite a panch.... full review

So-So by Tushar P. Joshi, DNA ...Yes, it's a guy film about women bashing, but PKP2 has sparks of some brilliant writing, a feel good cast and some hilarious moments that you just can't miss! Watch it with your guy friends to enjoy it the most. ... full review

So-So by Johnson Thomas, Free Press Journal ...All the three actresses fit well into the narrow frames designed for them. Music is also used quite judiciously here. The production values allow for a slicker and more up-market façade while the narrative fluency (within its narrow gainsaying constraints) allows for a focused reproach. This film is designed to please a niche audience no doubt. And word of mouth could do the rest. ... full review

So-So by Nupur Barua, ...This is not a family movie, per se, but it could be fun to take your other half to watch it - as long as you do not expect life-altering solutions from the film. Otherwise, wait for the TV release, or revisit the original movie. ... full review

So-So by Sweta Kaushal, Hindustan Times ...Made on a small budget of about Rs 9 crore, the film might well be a hit and it won’t be surprising at all. Our verdict? Go for the film, have some fun and have a happy weekend. ... full review

So-So by RAJEEV MASAND, IBN Live ...It's in the last act that the film throws away any pretence of humor and adopts an especially spiteful tone that's reminiscent of the earlier film. Until this point the jokes were consistently funny and the stereotyping seldom mean-spirited. I expect, nevertheless, that many people will find Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 very enjoyable. I did too, a lot of it. I laughed guiltily at so many jokes. ... full review

So-So by Shubha Shetty-Saha, MiD DAY ...It’s a fun, one-time watch. And to its credit, it is straight, simple and clear about its intentions, unlike a few ‘modern’ ones that begin on a woman-friendly note, but actually end up belittling them.... full review

So-So by Jaidev Hemmady, Movie Talkies ...All in all, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is not a bad watch as long as you don’t expect the film to offer something different from what the prequel dished out… ... full review

So-So by ViSHAL MENON, The Hindu ...He is the Yo Yo Honey Singh of Hindi cinema and the Pyaar Ka Punchnama series is a medium for him to dish out misogyny in the garb of fun. The film’s story too, then, is just cloth to patch together a bunch of dialogues that are funny only as a WhatsApp forward — like the five-minute rant by Kartik Aaryan about his problems with women in the first film. ... full review

So-So by Meena Iyer, Times of India ...In all fairness, this film may resonate with some masochistic sorts who like taking a whipping in love. Or still others, who just enjoy a few laughs at the cinemas each week!... full review

Thumbs down by Anna MM Vetticad, annavetticadgoes2themovies ...Here’s an additional point: women often turn on their own to earn brownie points with men in this patriarchal world, but guys, in a world where you hold all the aces, can you be so foolish as to celebrate a film that unwittingly portrays you too so poorly? Do you agree with PKP2’s contention that your lives revolve entirely around the demands of your nether regions? ... full review

Thumbs down by Baradwaj Rangan, Blogical Conclusion, The New Sunday Express ...The director of Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, would probably make a good stand-up comedian. ... full review

Thumbs down by Deepa Gahlot, cinemaah ...There are some smart lines with the profanity bleeped out, and the actors are not bad at all, but PKP2 is not even a fun look at the battle of the sexes as played out in the 21stcentury-- it’s plain nasty. And despite Luv Ranjan’s taking up cudgels on behalf of the ‘bechara’ boys, they come across as brainless idiots and losers! Maybe PKP3 should be from the point of view of girls stuck with whiny mamma’s boys. ... full review

Thumbs down by Prema Singh, Desi Martini ...Problem ye hai ki wo ladkiyaan hai, aur aisi ladkiyaan humse bhi nahin jheli jaatin Director Saab!... full review

Thumbs down by Gayatri Gauri, FirstPost ...Men, be ready to relate. At times. Women, be ready to hate. All the time. Hopefully, you can laugh it all off. Together. ... full review

Thumbs down by Suhani Singh, india today ...But the constant nice-guys-hard-done-by the evil gals narrative is more an annoying series of rants than an entertaining film. ... full review

Thumbs down by Manjusha Patil, koimoi ...This time around the ‘Punchnaama’ lacks the punch. This anti love story doesn’t impress much. So, 2 stars it is. ... full review

Thumbs down by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV ...But not all the pyaar in the world can compensate for the pea-brained piffle the film dumps on the audience. ... full review

Thumbs down by Raja Sen, Rediff ...And forget about hurting our sentiments, this juvenile single-minded immaturity hurts the comedy. It hurts the writing. It hurts the characters. It hurts the film. ... full review

Thumbs down by Sonia Chopra, Sify Movies ...You almost want to buy them a milkshake and offer them a hanky as they rant the way children do about their nasty classmates. But then, these are not children, but full grown-men, deeply in fear of women. Far from feeling offended by the movie, you end up feeling sorry for its limited vision. If the film were actually brave, it would offer a more balanced perspective. This one is of the whiners, by the whiners and for the whiners. ... full review

Thumbs down by Rummana, yahoo! India ...To be fair to the director, while the film is very biased, the humour is never cringe worthy. There are some moments of genuine fun but those aren’t enough to make you overlook the many failings of this romantic comedy. ... full review

Thumbs down ZEENEWS.COM ...In the din that the film generates, love is given a bad name and sent to the gallows. And that isn't the ideal recipe for a film yearning for a generous shower of pyaar at the box office. ... full review
