OMG Oh My God - External Reviews

wogma rating: The keen should rent; else TV (?)
quick review:

A logical yet over-simplified take on the arguments against blind faith. The attempt is to keep the arguments balanced yet the film's events are way too convenient.

Thumbs up by Baradwaj Rangan, Blogical Conclusion, The New Sunday Express ...Akshay Kumar, twirling a keychain like the discus, plays Lord Krishna here, and it’s one of his lightest performances. (Why do actors always come off better when not forced to carry the film?)... full review

So-So by Bobby Sing, Bobby Talks ...the producers of OMG rightly deserve a special mention here for going ahead with such a risky venture (having some bold dialogues) which could easily hurt the religious sentiments of our sensitive society.... full review

Thumbs down by Khalid Mohamed, Deccan Chronicle ...Hey if this is supposed to be entertainment, then you might as well pray for its rescue from the lowest depths it’s fast sinking into. Honestly, the outcome’s a punishment. ... full review

Thumbs down by Ankur Pathak, Desi Martini ...What could have been a great social satire goes off-topic becoming a tediously preachy film.... full review

Thumbs down by Deepa Deosthalee, Film Impressions ...Other than playing the flute lounging on Kanjibhai's jhoola and smiling benignly in court before making a full-costume appearance at the end to show his miracle, god's presence in the proceedings is uninspiring.... full review

Thumbs up by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...The likes of Om Puri, Govind Namdeo and Mahesh Manjrekar add to the film, but Mithun Chakraborty as the master puppeteer of religious deceit is a show stealer. ... full review

So-So by Rajeev Masand, IBN Live ...While the film makes a solid case against blind faith, the excesses of religious rituals, and the self-appointed "collection agents" of God, it never sticks its neck out far enough, choosing instead to go with a cop-out ending, as if afraid to be too provocative. ... full review
