Hunterrr - External Reviews

wogma rating: Watch when on TV (?)
quick review:

Trailer covers all the novelty of the plot. The rest is a regular coming-of-age cum love story masked under the garb of a sex comedy. Neither very funny, nor insightful.

Thumbs up by Prateek Sur, Bollywood Life ...LEAVE EVERYTHING AND GO WATCH THIS FILM. Bollywood hardly has such comedies and this one is definitely going in history as one of the bests. A MUST WATCH!... full review

Thumbs up by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...The music of this movie is appropriate. The lyrics are in perfect sync with the situation they’re depicting. The camera work is complementing of its voyeuristic setting. This is one very well conceived movie. If you’re sweating at the idea of a sexually charged movie that could offend you with its content, be rest assured that the visuals aren’t as graphic, the movie never gets vulgar. In fact, this movie subliminally depicts it’s provocative themes in the most tasteful manner. This is a must watch.... full review

Thumbs up by Divya Solgama, MoviezADDA ...Dum??? Well, this movie is a nonstop adult entertainer for all those who have a humorous mind. It's a high level quality stuff, which is very hard to be found in our Hindi cinema and will end up being a game changer in years to come. The family audiences and people with an orthodox mindset should stay miles away from this movie. Also, some might find the movie to be male centric, but nevertheless enjoy this exuberant journey of adulthood with your friends and like minded people.... full review

So-So Bollywood Hungama ...On the whole, if you like naughty comedy full of witty lines, then HUNTERRR is a must watch for you.... full review

So-So by Suparna Shrma, Deccan Chronicle ...The obsession with “likes” in these times of Facebook is killing all the fun. And Hunterrr is its latest victim. It’s all too keen that we like it, rather than we simply enjoy it. How sad.... full review

So-So by Inspector VIjay, Desi Martini ...Not bad but can be relegated to a TV watch... full review

So-So by MIhir Fadnavis, FirstPost ...Certainly there are more plusses in the film than there are minuses, but the negatives come at such ferocious intensity, you tend to loathe the film by the end. It’s also more frustrating to watch a film that showed some promise and let you down comprehensively in the end, than it is to see a movie that’s hopeless from beginning to end... full review

So-So by Johnson Thomas, Free Press Journal ...Gulshan Devaiah’s toned performance, Radhika Apte’s immersive one and Sai Tamhankar’s libidinously affective one combined with the retro-elements visible in the production and sound design keeps the interest going but the loopy narrative lets the excitement leak out for quite a bit. And Kulkarni’s freaky attempts to stretch the narrative by repeating overly familiar tricks also curtails the enjoyment. At best ‘Hunterrr’ is interesting and entertaining –It certainly could have been much better than that though! ... full review

So-So by NUPur Barua, ...The music is loud, and memorable - apt for the setting. The only technical flaw is the editing, but then again, the script is written in such a manner that not much could have been done with the sequence of shots shown in the movie. You'd expect it to be a bit tighter, though.... full review

So-So by Martin D'Souza, ...Like I mentioned earlier, HUNTERRR is Gulshan Devaiah and Gulshan Devaiah is HUNTERRR! He gets excellent support from the entire cast, especially the girls who play a prominent part. Sai Tamhankar as the frustrated housewife sizzles in the truest sense of the word, Veera Saxena's act borders on the real and Radhika Apte delivers another fine act after BADLAPUR.... full review

So-So by Surabhi Redkar, koimoi ...Watch it if you can handle a film that talks about sex in a lighter manner through the eyes of a sex addict. It is witty and funny, also quite relatable to men. Not meant for family audiences or people with tastes for massy films.... full review

So-So by Shubha Shetty-Saha, MiD DAY ...Watch it if brazen in your face is enough to titillate you. If not, let's wait for a more mature film dealing with sex.... full review

So-So by Meena Iyar, Times of India ...Also, an adult comedy should rely on a crackerjack style. All said and done, if you're up for something naughty, try Hunterrr.... full review

So-So by IANS, ZEENEWS.COM ...‘Hunterrr’ is a disarmingly frank sex comedy that knocks off all moral policing and strips the holier-than-thou brigade to the bare essentials. You may not like Mandar's leery behavior. But hell, some men do look at women as sex objects. And anyone who objects to sex is advised to look away.... full review

Thumbs down Daily Bhaskar ...All in all, Hunterrr will leave you exasperated. ... full review

Thumbs down by Sidhant Shori, Desi Martini ...Good acting isn't enough to make this worth watching in the movie hall.... full review

Thumbs down by Shubhra Gupta, Desi Martini ...Hunterrr’ is about a guy who can’t keep it in his pants... full review

Thumbs down by Sarita A Tanwar, DNA ...Also the film stereotypes all married women as frustrated and willing to jump into bed with the first single eligible men. Mandar and his friend somehow continue to find single women with whom they have casual sex in his bachelor pad when they have nothing going for them. It all seems set in some fantastical space, one you just don't buy in the end. ... full review

Thumbs down by Rajeev Masand, IBN Live ...Still, the film rests largely on the able shoulders of Gulshan Devaiah, who succeeds in making you care for a character that's not always likeable. Devaiah brings an everyman earnestness to Mandar, which protects him from coming off as a deviant. Too bad the film itself is promising but ultimately disappointing. A film, that in the end, delivers little else but cheap laughs.... full review

Thumbs down by Suhani Singh, india today ...Hunterrr has its share of dirty jokes, frivolous fun and the uninhibited moments which will increase its appeal from boys to men. However, one wishes that as the film reaches the always foreseeable end there was a better depiction of Mandar's redemption.... full review

Thumbs down by Rohit Khilnani, india today ...The film is packaged well with decent music that goes with the plot. Songs by Bappi Lahiri and even Altaf Raja work well. If packaging could save a bad product then Hunterrr would be watchable.... full review

Thumbs down by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV is too long, too languid and eventually too loose to leave a lasting impression. ... full review

Thumbs down by Raja Sen, Rediff ...Which is why it should come as no surprise that, at the scene mentioned at the head of this review, not just does the woman not invoke the bearded journalist, but she refuses even to behave like that other TV anchor and “demand to know.”... full review

Thumbs down by Sonia Chopra, Sify Movies ...Ladies, if you like being called 'Party Pack' and 'Family Pack' and have the same IQ as the female characters of this film, you too might dissolve into giggles and enjoy the cheeky humiliation. For those men who think being creepy is cute, this is your fairytale. For all the sane people, call your DVD guy to rent out a genuine sex comedy instead!... full review

Thumbs down by Moumita Bhattacharjee, Star Blockbuster ...Last Word: Rather go on a real hunting spree wherever it’s legal! - See more at: full review

Thumbs down by SUDHISH KAMATH, The Hindu ...If the film is guilty of anything, it’s the weak writing (there’s a terribly sentimental moment that falls flat when he cries reminiscing about his friend’s urinating habits) and the gimmicky deviations… After a while, the “LOL, just kidding, what really happened was…” style of narrative gets annoying.... full review

Thumbs down by Mayank Shekhar, ...Between the two main characters the movie collects enough material not only to flit between various timelines (that we’ve been going through anyway), but also between various possibilities of what could happen in various scenes. We basically keep going back and forth and back…. The movie has nowhere to go. I’m sorry at some point you’re just desperate to go home, and maybe catch this on TV instead... full review
