Heropanti - External Reviews

wogma rating: Watch if you have nothing better to do (?)
quick review:

This stuff happens in real life. Uhh...only that real life has a little less background music and the dialogue is not over-written, and maybe the performances are less melodramatic.

Thumbs up by Taran Adarsh, Bollywood Hungama ...On the whole, HEROPANTI is designed as a launch pad for Tiger Shroff and it gives him ample opportunity to prove his credentials in his debut film. The good news is, he delivers a striking performance. Additionally, what works is the masala quotient -- melodrama, music and action. An entertainer that hits the right notes! ... full review

Thumbs up by Devesh Sharma, Filmfare ...Tiger can punch and dance like the best of them and isn’t a bad actor either. His debut would have been more impressive if they had played up his strengths in a better way. He makes a sincere effort to win his audience over and let’s hope he gets better films focussing on his core strengths in future.... full review

Thumbs up by Subhash K. Jha, NDTV ...Heropanti is a full-on 'paisa vasool' Sajid Nadiadwala entertainer. It doesn't quite measure up to the requirements of the theme of honour killing that it so valiantly puts forward. But as a masala entertainer, that has more to say than one would expect from a film of this nature, Heropanti gets its fundas right.... full review

So-So by Namrata Thakker, Bollywood Life ...Overall, Heropanti is like any other massy entertainer. If you have no plans this weekend, then you can watch this one with your family. But don’t expect much and you’ll be pleased.... full review

So-So by Nupur Barua, fullhyd.com ...The fact that Jackie Shroff's son is now a hero should make you curious enough to check out Heropanti. There is no reason for you to expect anything more than a masala film with a predictable story line, nor should you expect to come out awed by the young boy (as you were by the father), but it is worth a watch. Just another commercial movie with plenty of high speed action sequences, Heropanti may not be an eternal love story, but there is hope yet, for both the actors.... full review

So-So by Martin D'Souza, Glamsham.com ...The surprise of the pack is newcomer Kriti Sanon. This girl gives a balanced performance and is good-looking as well. She carries off every scene with ease and in fact overshadows Tiger at times. No mean feat considering that this is his product launch. ... full review

So-So Indicine ...Heropanti will take an average opening because of the fine publicity campaign. If the tone of the film clicks, then Heropanti could go on to be a good earner.... full review

So-So by Divya Solgama, MoviezADDA ...Dum? Well, there is a decent amount of dum for all those who love masala drama with decent action scenes and melodious songs attached to it. While for all others who love realistic type of film or were expecting a hardcore action romantic drama might head out for a huge disappointment. Such films need good screenplay and super fiery heroism in the lead actor, which in case of 'Heropanti', turns out to be more of 'Dim-Panti'.... full review

So-So by Noyon Jyoti Parasara, Now Running.com ...Heropanti has its drawbacks but manages to hold the audience in the second half. And more importantly, it does spring two talents to look out for. Tiger, with his innocent looks, should work well with the girls while he could be a valid action star. He may not have his father's voice but he has his style for sure. It would be up to him to make the right moves from here... full review

So-So by Sukanya Verma., Rediff ...And the way I see it, he could not have asked for a shoddier launch. Yet somehow beneath the pin-up torso, the soulful eyes and an awkward smile -- a genuine, graceful, likeable boy comes through. ... full review

So-So by Moumita Bhattacharjee, Star Blockbuster ...Heropanti is a complete paisa vasool entertainer with every ingredient to spice up your weekend. If the story or Tiger Shroff doesn’t excite you, go for Whistle Baja! It’s absolutely worth it!... full review

So-So by Srijana Mitra Das, Times of India ...Still, Heropanti is enjoyable. The climax pumps up the action, featuring shirtless Tiger, crouching Rajjo. The tale has a twist as graceful as Tiger's flips and you do agree when Tiger suggests, 'Mere naal tu whistle baja.'... full review

Thumbs down by Bobby Sing, Bobby Talks Cinema.com ...Summing up, no doubt HEROPANTI is just another average package of entertainment in a pure South style with all routine stuff. Still, it remains one step ahead than many careless entertainers such as R…RAJKUMAR. To give you a clear indication we earlier used to make HERO and now it has all gone down to HEROPANTI.... full review

Thumbs down by Shalu Dhyani, Bolly Spice ...The only good Heropanti ends up doing is being a lesson for debutants who feel that six packs and smooth moves are enough to make them a star. That little thing called acting talent is important too. And the audience deserves better.... full review

Thumbs down by Kusumita Das, Deccan Chronicle ...over all, one might be confused if director Sabbir Khan intended to make a spoof or a film. Go for it, if you are in the mood for cheap thrills.... full review

Thumbs down by Johnson Thomas, Free Press Journal ...If this movie was an all-out actioner like ‘Raid’ or any of the Bruce Lee, kung-fu, Karate movies, it would have been a dream debut at least for Tiger. ‘Heropanti’ as is, where is, just doesn’t engage or entertain, sorry to say!... full review

Thumbs down by Anupama Chopra, Hindustan Times ...The film is a showcase for Tiger’s talents; he is an incredible acrobat who does backflips in dance sequences and effortlessly leaps off walls in action scenes. He is a smooth dancer. ... full review

Thumbs down by Shubhra Gupta, indian express ...Raj keeps forgetting he’s meant to be a Jat, and slipping into his real voice. He gets to make emotional speeches and shed tears too: we share his feelings, because he’s the only real actor in this enterprise. Is this all they can think of in the name of a fresh love story?... full review

Thumbs down by Mohar Basu, koimoi ...Heropanti makes no fuss about being a bad film. Unapologetical about being a dismal and shabby affair, Heropanti serves only two purposes: Giving Bollywood an heir to Akshay Kumar who kick boxes like a star despite having Kareena Kapoor’s cutesy face and an actress who has a lot of latent potential along with her resplendent looks, waiting to be used in the right project.... full review

Thumbs down by Shubha Shetty-saha, MiD DAY ...Kirti Sannon does the de rigueur of weeping and pleading to be rescued and protected in this testosterone driven movie and she does a decent job of it. The real villain of this film is the relentless background music that only gets louder every minute. ... full review
