wogma rating: Watch if you have nothing better to do (?)
quick review:

As inane as an action film can get. It's fight to have a relevant story is futile because it is nothing more than the usual sequences of chase sequences.

So-So by Anna MM Vertticad, annavetticadgoes2themovies ...Force 2 is not earth-shatteringly memorable, but it is fun. Abhinay Deo must share a large part of the credit for that with action director Franz Spilhaus, cinematographers Mohana Krishna and Imre Juhasz who make us participants in the proceedings, Amitabh Shukla & Sanjay Sharma’s sharp editing and the doggedness of John Abraham’s bath towel that does not get dislodged from his waist until the very end of an extended, physically challenging fight. ... full review

So-So by Baradwaj Rangan, Blogical Conclusion, The New Sunday Express ...Force 2 ends up a decent-enough entry in the oh-if-there’s-nothing-else genre. ... full review

Thumbs down by Bobby Sing, Bobby Talks Cinema.com ...But please don’t indulge in sporting such crappy movies as FORCE 2 for any reason of your own.... full review

Thumbs up by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice ...Force 2 is not a great one for spreading the message of peace. It would rather do its job of giving us stunts that keep us riveted to our seats. But it does bring up the issue of a very disturbing political tragedy whereby those who are caught spying are disowned by their own country. It’s a chilling thought on betrayal and loss, not quite the mood that this upbeat fiery and feisty actioner wants to dwell on. But it really can’t really help acquiring a conscience while taking a well-aimed shot at giving Hollywood stunts films a run for their money. ... full review

So-So Bollywood Hungama ...On the whole, FORCE 2 is a power packed adrenaline pumping action thriller which has the right mixture of zing and force. At the Box-Office, the film will be appreciated by the audience. However the lack of chartbuster music, romance and demonetisation might act as a spoilsport for the movie. All in all, FORCE 2 is however worth a shot... full review

Thumbs up by Gaurang Chauhan, Bollywood Life ...This film is a must watch for all the film lovers. It is one of the few Indian espionage thrillers on the India China relationship and it isn’t too preachy. Go for this one and you’ll be hooked for sure till the end. ... full review

So-So by Deepa Gahlot, cinemaah ... Force 2 is brisk and efficient within its hackneyed frame... full review

So-So by Rohit Bhatnagar, Deccan Chronicle ...Genelia D’souza has a special appearance in the film and just lights up the screen even if just for a few seconds. Overall the film will appeal to those who love to see action and want to see John Abraham doing it. And yes, he is even bulkier this time around. ... full review

Thumbs down by Ameet Bhuvan, Desi Martini ...it's ok to have characters in an action flick you don't care about as long as there is good action on screen. Force2 looses on that count too. The fights are drab, excessively concentrate on making a Singham out of John and less on giving a good adrenaline rush to the audience. Stay clear. ... full review

So-So by Maulin Parmar, Desi Martini ...I've seen some ratings, and they are above 8. So, people are loving it. Therefore, just go for it, you will not be disappointed. ... full review

So-So by Merkwürdige Liebe, Desi Martini ...But whatever, the film keeps throwing at you one surprise after another, one brutal setpiece after another, all scored to a thumping score, that at least ensure you don't doze off during its runtime. I wish it had aimed a little higher, but I haven't seen a Bollywood film this committed so its genre that barring one embarrassing attempt at comic relief, it Just Doesn't Stop. This is a formulaic film, yes, but it also does a decent job at executing the formula. ... full review

So-So by Zinia Bandyopadhyay , Desi Martini ...The story has a great intention behind it. But it is also true that it has some serious jumbled up concepts. It certainly had the potential to shine, but falls flat by the end! less ... full review

Thumbs up by Smita Vyas Kumar, Desi Martini ...which means we see John Abraham in full glory, shirt off, short towel, every sinew and muscle rippling... full review

Thumbs up by Tushar P. Joshi, DNA ...Force 2 is a great watch mainly because it stays true to its genre and provides ample adrenaline rush. John Abraham is in top form and the film has some of the best action sequences shot this year. Force 2 has loads of bang worth your buck. ... full review

Thumbs up by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...All said and done, Force 2 should be watched for its stellar action sequences. They’re high on both quality and quantity. If you’ve grown up enjoying the careers of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, this film can provide a very satisfactory experience. ... full review

Thumbs down by Johnson Thomas, Free Press Journal ...The cinematography and editing are the key players here; Actors are mere props because neither John nor Sonakshi is capable of giving an in-depth performance. The best that can be said about them is that they were sincere. In spite of mechanical faults, the action here is the most riveting we’ve seen in a Hindi film. Unfortunately the story is so filled with loop holes that even that isn’t enough to lure you into the theatres. ... full review

Thumbs down by Vishal Verma, Glamsham.com ...When you spoil a good movie by doing a bad sequel then the crime gets doubled, but FORCE 2 is in an altogether different zone, I questioned the logic behind the remake of the lousy HIMMATWALA and now I need a spy to understand what was so great about FORCE that we had a forced FORCE 2 as a sequel.... full review

So-So by Manjusha Radhakrishnan, Gulf News ...While that answer may remain elusive, Force 2 is engaging enough to give it a shot. ... full review

Thumbs down by Rohit Vats, Hindustan Times ...Force 2 has a noble heart. It wants to get the undercover agents, who selflessly serve the nation, their due. But the narrative hasn’t taken a favourable shape. Sadly, it’s mostly about muscles and very less about intelligence. ... full review

Thumbs down by Anupama Chopra, Hindustan Times ...John powers through all of this armed with his jaw-dropping muscles, limited acting skills and a ferocious sincerity. Sadly, sincerity is never enough. ... full review

So-So by Ananya Bhattacharyal, india today ...May be the government will be able to answer that. As for us commoners, Force 2 is a decent one-time watch. Just make sure your ears are seasoned to bear loud noise.... full review

Thumbs up Indicine ...Conclusion: This sequel goes one up on the first film and makes for an entertaining action thriller which actually has a story to tell behind all the brawn and high adrenaline action. The demonization issue might affect the movie to an extent, but Force 2 has all the tadka to be liked by the youth of the country. Family audiences will probably be jarred by all the action. So decide accordingly and give this movie a watch. ... full review

Thumbs up by Surabhi Redkar, koimoi ...Force 2 is a Bollywood action entertainer. Don’t go with high hopes and you’ll surprise yourself. I am going with a 3! ... full review

So-So by Lata Jha, Live Mint ...Tahir Raj Bhasin has mastered the art of the smirk as shorthand for evil, and he has plenty of opportunities to do so in Force 2. Shiv is captured and driven to the airport by Yash and Karanjeet to be brought to justice in India. Nobody thinks to ask for back-up or, at the very least, a bullet-proof vehicle. This tribute to RAW is undercooked, but it manages to retain its crowd-pleasing flavour. The action is nasty and short, and before any “what just happened” questions can be asked, ACP Yash delivers yet another punch. It’s not quite India’s answer to the Mission: Impossible films, but at least on the thrills front, it’s halfway there. ... full review

Thumbs down by Shaheen Parkar, MiD DAY ...Don't try to fathom it or the plot, just enjoy the Budapest scenery instead.... full review

Thumbs down by Jaidev Hemmady, Movie Talkies ...Except for a couple of high-adrenaline chase sequences, the film doesn't really offer anything substantial to make your day. ... full review

So-So by Kunal Guha, Mumbai Mirror ...If you're in the mood for a no-brainer where a lot of people succumb to bullets or are flattened under vehicles, rent a Jason Statham movie instead. ... full review

So-So by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV ...And if you are a John Abraham fan, there can be no reason whatever to give Force 2 a miss. ... full review

So-So by Divya Pal, News18.com ...All in all, Force 2 works like a typical spy thriller. If you are a die-hard fan of John Abraham, you have to watch the film. ... full review

So-So by Manisha Lakhe, Now Running.com ...The parkour and the video game style killing of the villain's goons goes on and on, but the end makes it worthwhile. You want to ask how the villain affords these henchmen, and you groan at his never-ending emotional response to everything. It's an overdose. You want an unrepentant Gabbar Singh like villain, who does not need a sad, pathetic history to be a bad guy. ... full review

Thumbs down by Raja Sen, Rediff ...The fundamental flaw in a film like this -- other than the repetitive wowlessness of it all -- is the fact that by creating too dry and no-nonsense protagonists instead of fleshing them out as characters, you end up failing the genre. There is only one thing a smashing action movie should aim to be: fantastic nonsense. ... full review

So-So by Sukanya Verma, Rediff ...At the end of its 127 minutes run amidst relentless gunshots and car crashes, charm (on Force 2's end) and clemency (on mine) has run its course. What prevails is more phew than force. ... full review

Thumbs down by Namrata Joshi, The Hindu ...Abraham reprises the dour ACP Yashvardhan with a suitable singularity of expression. I only hope it doesn’t get mistaken for intensity. He also manages to hang on rather well to a towel perched precariously on his mid-riff (for knowing more about the towel, see the movie). Meanwhile, Sinha looks completely clueless, as though she walked into a wrong film set. It’s left entirely up to Bhasin then to hold our interest with his blabbering, psychological games and mouth organ. He, at times, overcompensates for the po-faced leads but largely manages to hold some amount of interest even if his character itself seems like a long lost twin of the evil avatar he played in Mardani. Time, for a talented actor like him, to move on, before the supposed charisma turns into a worn-out cliché. ... full review

So-So by Nihit Bhave, Times of India ...It’s a decent time at the cinema for the thrill-seekers; the action won’t disappoint. Go ahead and may the force be with you! ... full review

Thumbs down by Karan Bali, Upper Stall ...Force 2, even if bigger and perhaps just that little bit better, does nothing much to give one hope that we have an interesting franchise on hand. Let’s just say you don’t have to force yourself to see this one.... full review

So-So by Rummana, yahoo! India ...Watch ‘Force 2’ for its high-octane action and some gripping chase sequences, but don’t expect any of it to be very logical. ... full review

So-So ZEENEWS.COM ...Overall, Force 2 offers nothing that you have not seen before, yet entertains you. It is an ideal watch for John and Sonakshi fans. ... full review
