Thumbs up by Nikhil Kumar, Apun Ka Choice ...Kudos to director Sharat Katariya for telling a moving tale simply and effectively. Kudos to producer Maneesh Sharma for backing this wonderful project. And kudos to Yash Raj Films for supporting a good film. ... full review

Thumbs up by Subramanian Haikumar, Bollywood Life ...If you want to relive the times when life was much simpler, then Dum Laga ke Haisha is the movie for you. Packed with some wonderful performances by the entire cast, the film tells a sweet story, with plenty of comic punches to keep you entertained. Watch it for Bhumi Pednekar who has shown great promise. In closing, I would like to say, go watch Dum Laga ke Haisha with no expectations and more often than not you would leave the theatre with a faint smile lingering on your face.... full review

Thumbs up Daily Bhaskar ...The film is a must watch for the 90s lovers who continue to listen to Kumar Sanu’s hits from that era on Youtube. Even so, catch it for its simple story and very genuine performances as it comes as a break from loud Bollywood romantic projects that leave you with false ideas about love.... full review

Thumbs up by Rachit Gupta, Filmfare ...There are some great musical compositions by Anu Malik in the film. It’s a pity they’re not used as much through the final cut as would in another commercial film. Reason being, the story doesn’t really require that much music, but when that music plays in DLKH, it creates the perfect mood. This film is based in the ’90s, it even has a cameo by Kumar Sanu. And that treatment for this story is perfectly novel. A lot of thought and effort has been put into making this film. You’ll appreciate the seamless intertwining of humour and drama. And acting performances that are phenomenal.... full review

Thumbs up by Rajyasree Sen, FirstPost ...The only letdown in Dum Laga ke Haisha down is the ending, which seems a little too happy and pat. But this is a film meant to make you smile and believe in love. Go watch the film, I highly recommend it.... full review

Thumbs up by Zehra Abbas, fullhyd.com ...It's deliciously ironic that Dum Laga Ke Haisha is produced by the Chopras, who wrote the book on formulaic, Bollywood romance. In today's India, with airbrushed photos and teen depression due to skewed body images, this film sends out a brave message by casting a beautiful, appealing, plus-size heroine. Sandhya is vibrant and happy, comfortable with her sexuality, and speaks her mind. The audience is reminded of the lyrics from one of the songs - "ordinary nahin, deluxe dhoondenge". Full marks to the makers for correcting our vocabulary and proving that "fat" is actually "deluxe".... full review

Thumbs up by Martin D'Souza, Glamsham.com ...Ayushman, too lends credence to his part with a studied approach to his character who uncorks his bottled rage with his friends, something he cannot do with his father. Sanjay Mishra comes good once again as Prem's father. The support cast too lend support to make this film what it is. A word for the sets: authentic. DUM LAGA KE HAISHA is different as different can be. The premise is also believable.... full review

Thumbs up by Rajeev Masand, IBN Live ...Simple and breezy, while at the same time evocative of life in small-town India, Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a charming film that you really shouldn't miss. I'm going with three-and-a-half out of five.... full review

Thumbs up by Saurabh Dwivedi, india today ...If you like good movies, are looking for meaning of love in marriage, are fat or thin, pay heed to physical apprearance more in pairing up two individuals, like films with real set-up or if you like hatke movies, then Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a good choice.... full review

Thumbs up by Shubhra Gupta, indian express ...I’m humming its lovely song, ‘Yeh Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’, written by lyricist Varun Grover: the words are better than the tune, and they fit right into the movie. Because what else remains, other than these threads of affection? Dum hai.... full review

Thumbs up by Surabhi Redkar, koimoi ...Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a straight from the heart film which is easy to connect to. The characters are beautifully crafted and the love story is heart-melting. No over the top dances, shoddy music and bad climaxes, this is YRF’s best films to have come recently.... full review

Thumbs up by Shubha Shetty-Saha, MiD DAY ...One of the best romantic comedies to come out of Bollywood, 'Dum Lagaa Ke Haisha' steadily grows on you and warms the cockles of your heart even before you realise it. By the end of it, you might just want to go and hug the people in your life who you otherwise take for granted.... full review

Thumbs up by Joginder Tuteja, Movie Talkies ...Still, these are minor things in the bigger scheme of things as Sharat Katariya's apt handling of the entire 'divorce hearing' scene at court is worth the price of ticket! ... full review

Thumbs up by Divya Solgama, MoviezADDA ...Dum? Well, there is a good amount of dum for all those who love to see, feel good films with slice of life type of theme attached to it. The whole concept, treatment and performances in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' is enjoyable and will be loved by the family audiences. The youngsters might find them alienated with the theme of the film. Also, the middle portions if were taken care the movie would have ended among the list of great films in recent times. Nevertheless, a special thanks to Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma for bringing up such a unique romantic tale, which displays much more than the external and superficial love through this sweet and neat Indian film.... full review

Thumbs up by RUMMANA AHMED, yahoo! India ...Having said that, it’s Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a fun watch. What is in fact commendable is that a banner like Yash Raj Films has put its weight behind a project like this one. We always associate YRF with foreign locales, snowcapped mountains and chiffon-clad heroines – basically slick productions where everything looks perfect. It is heartwarming to see a relatable story with characters you can identify with.... full review

Thumbs up by Aparna Mudi, ZEENEWS.COM ...This movie is a feel good package and a must watch for those born in the 80s and the 90s simply to relive the decade. For those who are not, go for the performances. It is rare that a Bollywood movie makes you all warm, fuzzy and gooey from the inside – the experience is a must for those who love cinema.... full review

So-So by bobby Sing, Bobby Talks Cinema.com ...So made exactly as per the above probable instructions, DUM LAGA KE HAISHA does provide that light entertainment largely due to its nostalgic ambience, good performances and a comeback soundtrack by Anu Malik. But don’t look for any emotional depth or some exceptional storyline here offering something extra than what was there in its trailer. It’s a simple and sweet film intentionally made to make you smile without much thinking, sobbing or heavy hearts. So do give it a try if the description interests you.... full review

So-So by suparna Sharma, Deccan Chronicle ...Though the film is emotionally unsure, it manages to extract some lovely performances from its sturdy ensemble of supporting actors. Ayushmann Khurrana as Prem, eventually the only keeper of the film’s artifice — a fat heroine — delivers an exceptionally astute performance,... full review

So-So by Sweta Kaushal, Hindustan Times ...Varun Grover deserves a special mention here, mainly because his lyrics bring back the flavour of the 90s. If you belong to post-90s generation, you may still find Dum Laga Ke Haisha worth a dekko if warm and light-hearted fun is what you are looking for.... full review

So-So by Raja Sen, Rediff ...Ayushmann Khurrana is great, giving his mostly pathetic character a sort of sullen, defiant dignity, and biting into the role rather sportingly. The new girl Bhumi Pednekar has a delightful smile, and is -- part sassy, in part pitiful, part heroic -- mostly impressively real, creating a genuine character. Sanjay Mishra and Seema Pahwa from Ankhon Dekhi show up and shine here too, as does the excellent Sheeba Chaddha as the boy’s tyrannical aunt.... full review

So-So by Mohar Basu, Times of India ...But in the end, it isn't extraordinary, failing to rise above the idea that a fat girl needs some schmuck to complete her life. Undeniably, the smarts are visible in its original thinking but it doesn't translate into a satiating viewing experience.... full review
