Wasnt THAT bad.. I would say somewhere between 2 - 2.5
Some people genuinely enjoyed it.. The Manchester united scene before the interval was really great!
The movie is not at all engrossing. Its copied from chakde but chakde is a much better effort.. give it a misss
without worrying a bit abt missing out on anything
[...] at Without Giving the Movie Away is supremely disappointed at this attempt at highlighting racism and feels Bollywood should stop tackling serious [...]
"Goal" is fairly entertaining. Its tells its story in a simple, non-preachy manner. The rootless feeling among Asians leaving in an alien land is quite well-reflected - they feel unwanted and unloved. Football is their ticket to acceptance and success. True, the racism angle is handled in an amateur fashion, but we can overlook a few shortcomings because on the whole "Goal" is a feel good film which will get you smiling. John Abraham is absolutely the right choice for the role, ably supported by Arshad and Bomman. Bipasha is wasted, though she and John do have some very sweet moments together. Definitely worth a watch.
Engrossing after Interval,The movie has positives as well as negatives.Positives are that Goal of John Ibrahim's Father and Tony the best player of 1985 are met in the end.The message:" you can achieve your goal if you have perceiverance" does come out. The scene of different coloured flowers and the dialogue of the wife of the coach(Boman Irani)is something that noone can ever forget. The comedy sequence on change the channel and the coach's point of argument as to why he helped is also something that will be remembered for a long time.
The negatives are also too many. Not much attention has been given to all the players. Only Captain.Sunny,Debashish,Montu and Goalkeeper get the attention whereas any outdoor game is a team effort.
The sequence of Sunny getting beaten on his nose is a bit too much of exagerration.
all said and done,The movie of the Director Vivek Agnihotri is better than his previous one named Chocolate which not many will remember.
Goal was supremely boring movie of recent times. Meetu has given some points in detailed ratings... I would have even given that... :)
This movie is a total waste of money...Recommend it to some of your friends if you want some sweet revenge :D
