Very attractive piece of boredom.
A scene to scene copy even wid the opening disclaimer. ;)
Its not based on a true story. The original, "its all gone pete tong", is just a mockumentary. They created all fake websites about the protagonist, Frankie Wilde, to make him come out as a real life character. Just a smart gimmickery by the makers of this great movie. About the indian makers of Soundtrack, I don't know why they claimed it to be a true story. Don't know if even they fell for it.
One of the moodiest violent films after history of violence. And brilliant background score. Loved it.
I agree with you over the point about the way this genre of films is shaping up in India. Maybe its my love for this genre that makes me like this film a lot. I personally think, it is much much wittier and much much better than the other films in this genre released in last year or so (Emotional atyachar, yeh saali zindagi). I was worried about the shaping up of the genre after watching those films. This one made me feel upbeat.
(Yeah, even I got the been there done that feeling. Love Camera Smoke syndrome maybe)
and i dont think there should be any problem with the title or the 'publicity gimmick' or the 'item song' with the end credits... i think the the title is absolutely apt and the last song was the most appropriate culmination to the film....

bhimanyu singh and deepak dobriyal were just mind blowing...... its hard to be noticed when you have kay kay menon in full form..... but its possible in anurag kashyap's films....
half told....? dont agree.... the way anurag uses small graffitis, background scores, stuff in the background to convey his film is juz superb.... a contemporary masterpiece..... but then, when i had seen no smoking i had felt the same.... and one word for amit trivedi..... if rahman is GOD, this trivedi is a DEVIL.... bloody the best soundtrack ever.....
journey of a conman.... i know it doesnt have much drama... but just want to marvel at the amount of thought the director has given in writing each scene... but the problem is when these scenes were knit together it didnt result in a good sceenplay... so i would say, each scene individually was marvellous... but the screenplay not quite. but i loved the movie...
one of the best movies made this decade... even alessandro gonzalez innaritu and arriaga would have been proud of the screenplay and the characteristion....
if not for taare zameen par, this film wud have been my choice for oscar entry... and trust me it wudnt have dissapointed.....
