  • Guzaarish: Thumbs up: The movie is quite paradoxical, quite like 100 gram zindagi song. Both restrained and un-subtle.

  • Hate Story:

Bad acting and Undelivered Promised Sex.... Boy, am I going to enjoy catcalls or what (fortunately I have an amazing single screen nearby, where audience are comedy goldmines) This is one of those types of movies where audience makes it enjoyable.

  • Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi:

Perfectly Cautious write up, what more it was insightful too (one promo matlab low budget - that never occurred to me... haalaki yeh alag baat hai ki now TV is showing more promos. But it was an insight nonetheless.)

"The only thing that could hamper any anticipation is the director's last venture as a director, Home Delivery."

Director ka last venture 'Home Delivery' nahi ne Dikdi, balki 'Aladdin' tha. (helps if you imagine parsi baba speaking)

  • Rockstar:

Liked everything in "Rockstar", well almost everything... Nargis Fakhri still has some distance to cover acting wise but she looked God Awesome (maano jaise Pakistani Angelina Jolie).

But its a hard to like film... coz its not what you expect... its not a rags to riches story, it doesn't have a political message, Hero isn't sympathetic, the love story doesn't fit in moral framework and what not. I understand the anger towards it, although those exactly are the points which make me admire it.

[P.S: I would've liked to defend the movie... but it would mean I have to give some part of movie away; Kaash, private discussion rakh sakte wogma pe. Either that or a public one with SPOILER alert.]

I've checked in IMDB, this movie doesn't star Aamir Khan nor co-directed by Kiran Rao. Then why does credits here say so?

@meetu: Thank God, I don't have a TV. Hype se bach gaya. But jab story se jyada, Barbara aunty pe focus ho (public-city me) toh kuch naa kuch locha hona hi maangta naa.

May be you're right. Aisa hai ki I went with faithful adaptation expectation... somewhat frank darabont style... plot me change hoga tobhi gum nahi lekin book ke themes ko touch hona maangta. They didn't give it, I felt cheated.
I won't give movie away... but just say this felt like watched three movies in one... Taare Zameen Par, Bawarchi and Munnabhai. Plus Javed Jaffery twist toh pach hi nahi raha.

  • Blue:

I guess their Ads said it all.Oscar Winners, Budgets , Phirangi Imports, Macho Sounding (actually ridiculous) dialogues were given more preference ads than on content of the movie. Agreed we need to show these to attract crowds, but don't over do it, all it does make content conspicuous by it's absence.

  • Aagey Se Right:

I went to see this movie in the same Cinema Hall where kaminey was screened, having noticed impressive vijay maurya in many ads, I went with sky high expectations (Justified by his Item Patao Tutorials to Kay Kay in ads). to say that's the only funny part in the movie, other parts which i felt could have been funny but were ruined (by bad direction,acting... I know not). The movie was waste of money, as far as my opinion is concerned.

  • Hulla:

Most of the times when I read your review, its as if you write right what I want to read (Either a new insight or well criticised, How do you do it so consistently?).But this time however, i'll have to disagree with meetu, although i'm not a writer I thought the story was well written (with simplistic premise, I concede that ). But the characters were good, I felt as if watching modern version of chawl in sai paranjpe's KATHA. I hated serial 'Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye' and didn't even remember who the lead actress was, until i saw her in this movie and would never forget that her name was 'Kartik Devi Rane'. I feel it was writers skill that he could do justice to that guy who cracks unfunny jokes.

  • Roadside Romeo:

I recommend "Horton hears a Who" to learn how it's done by masters of the game...

posted 3 years, 6 months ago
  • Roadside Romeo:

It seems that I've found the example rather quickly , my apologies in advance for I'm going to recommend a movie which is really pathetic...
There's a movie called "Meet the Spartans", now there's a sequence when leonidas starts to behave like a video game character.
Now his movement corresponds to animation of a videogame character.
and look of the movie corresponds to 300.
I guess this would distinguish animation v/s visual satisfactorily...
Well it's clearly a mismatch of visuals and animation(intentionally for humour), so is roadside romeo (unfortunately it was done unintentionally)

posted 3 years, 6 months ago
  • Roadside Romeo:

Animation deals more with the movement(of anything, let's restrict ourselves to characters for present discussion) and visuals deal more with look of the movie.
movement is influenced(and influences) by many things design of characters, design of environment, voice actors, quirks of species, narrative, anatomy etc.,
To be Continued....(I'm finding myself short of words and examples, as soon as I find more convincing way to put what i feel across, I'll resume)

  • Roadside Romeo:

Before I begin to explain, Let me get these facts straight:
1.I haven't seen Roadside Romeo movie, I've seen all of their trailers though.
2.All of my comments are based solely on trailers .(Believe it or not, their approach to animation of the character in first teaser itself reveals that it would be a shabbily made movie. No, it's not a fluke.)
3.I must confess that I said visuals for the lack of better word(whatever is the word for when movie looks good but just doesn't suit or contribute to the style in which movie was made, refer previous yashraj films). So I'm prone to few blunders.
Now that I've got these things off my chest, let me continue to explain visuals v/s animation.

posted 3 years, 6 months ago
  • Roadside Romeo:

Roadside Romeo wasn't well made, I also felt animation was awkward and didn't really do a good job of combining human and dog traits.I appreciate the visuals though.(visuals not to be confused with animation)

posted 3 years, 6 months ago
  • Roadside Romeo:

Exactly that's the point, Any Movie which is well made is always welcome.

  • Roadside Romeo:

Prashant, no offends but i guess what reviewer meant was that... if it's a movie targeted at children then... do it faithfully(for the lack of better word).
and kids movie is not always mythological(I've no problem with mythological if they are well made), they can deal plausibly with the relevant issues like elephant(based on columbine high school massacre).
and let the children form their views please don't taboo sex(learning to woo a gal/guy is not such a bad thing either, stop demonizing it.), even they can be in kids movie, needless to say that it has to be dealt sensitively.(This is personal suggestion... cause prashant's statement that movies other than mythological are polluting child's mind is alarming...)
