wogma rating: Watch when on TV (?)
quick review:

Engaging to the senses - visually and musically - is poetic even. Ironically, the heart though, is kept at bay.

So-So by Anna MM Vetticad, annavetticadgoes2themovies ...The film’s technical embellishments are all in place. Anay Goswamy’s visuals are impressive without being overwhelming, the costumes are attractive, and the music by Amit Trivedi (songs) and Hitesh Sonik (background score) is adequate within the context of the film. ... full review

Thumbs down Bollywood Hungama ...On the whole, FITOOR is a huge letdown despite its great visuals, as it fails to connect emotionally. At the Box-Office, the movie will appeal only to a minuscule set of multiplex audience. ... full review

Thumbs down by Karan Shah, Bollywood Life ...Don’t watch Fitoor it’s crap & waste of money! Save yourself this Valentine’s day or after the movie you will be single... full review

Thumbs down by Ameet Bhuvan, Desi Martini ...Verdict - A flaccid chemistry between the lead pair and a lead pair that cant act, it is a disaster ... full review

Thumbs down by Aneela Zeb Babar, Desi Martini ...Oh if the movie could have explored what could have happened with Noor and Hazrat or Arif and Noor while we are at it. Seriously what was that? No one takes a boy you have just met to a prestigious junket in London to hold your brushes, do they? Nudge nudge. ... full review

Thumbs down by Yatharth Chauhan , Desi Martini ...Verdict - Dear Charles Dickens, Abhishek Kapoor has let down your Great Expectations and ours Greater Expectations! ... full review

So-So by Mehak Khurana , Desi Martini ...Verdict - Watch, if you have nothing better to do. ... full review

So-So by Sarita A Tanwar, DNA ...What to do: It's Valentine’s Week and if you are in the mood for a complex love story, check this one out.... full review

So-So by Rachit Guptai, Filmfare ...Director Abhishek Kapoor could've done a lot more with this film. The love story between his leads should have been a lot more intense. But in the end the film turns out to be a shallow affair. ... full review

Thumbs down by Subhash K Jha, FirstPost ...Moral of the story: It’s one thing to adapt Chetan Bhagat. To adapt Dickens is quite another. This is Abhishek Kapoor’s third film, and we can, with no apology to Chetan Bhagat, say the third is a mistake in his life. ... full review

So-So by Josh, fullhyd.com ...But the frames are generally beautiful. They are impeccably lit, and the grandeur is spell-binding. And the music by Amit Trivedi brings more charm to an already gorgeous-looking film. ... full review

So-So by Martin D'Souza, Glamsham.com ...The background score is of international standard and the music pleasing. FITOOR packs in a lot visually (DOP - Anay Goswamy) and held out a promise to be Danielle Steel's The Promise. However, it remains just that, a promise!... full review

Thumbs down by Sweta Kaushal, Hindustan Times ...Melodrama and a superficial love story are some of the road blocks that hinder a beautiful cinematic journey Abhishek Kapoor wanted to take you on. ... full review

Thumbs up by RAJEEV MASAND, IBN Live ...Kapoor ditches many of the overarching social themes of Great Expectations to focus on what is primarily the story of star-crossed lovers and a complex romance. Fitoor isn’t perfect, but it’s a skillfully made film that’s easy on both the eye and the ear. In these times of fast-paced, hyperactive storytelling, you can appreciate the film’s dreamy, moody pace. I’m going with three out of five. ... full review

Thumbs down by Uday Bhatia, Live Mint ...A lush adaptation of ‘Great Expectations’ with a gaping hole at its centre ... full review

So-So by Shubha Shetty-Saha, MiD DAY ...And then of course, there is Tabu, who even by her mere presence is capable of infusing life into the goings on. Tabu is so brilliant as Begum Hazrat, taken from the famed Havisham's character in the classic, and so terrific that she makes you part of her emotional and lunatic world. At times you feel the urge to reach out and comfort her and the next minute, she totally spooks you out.... full review

Thumbs down by Jaidev Hemmady, Movie Talkies ...Like mentioned earlier, the film is a visual delight and the music of the film is a treat. Right from the title track to Pashmina to Hone do batiya, the music is quite commendable. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the film, which is a disappointing version of 'Great Expectations'.... full review

Thumbs up by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV ...There is so much to admire in Fitoor that it is easy not to be put off by its ponderous pace and lack of contextual detailing. ... full review

Thumbs down by Raja Sen, Rediff ...From this point on, both film and protagonist are impossible to stomach, and since young Aditya has taken on a role this demanding, a role that needs an actor to shoulder it, he must face a large part of the flak. The character he creates is a drab, gloomy, stalker-y one, not the impassioned lover from the book. Lara Dutta, playing a savvy and exploitative art-dealer, brands his first showing smartly in order to cash in on Noor's roots, calling it The Boy From Dal. If only he weren't such a dull boy. ... full review

So-So by Sonia Chopra, Sify Movies ...If you love Great Expectations, keep no expectations from this one. Else, be prepared to entranced by the visual splendor of the movie, and be disappointed by the lack of emotional connect. ... full review

So-So by Srijana Mitra Das, Times of India ...You get style - including six-pack Noor painting shirtless (explains why artists score more - can you imagine writers taking their tops off to work?) - but little depth. To play with a great quote, oh what a tangled web we weave, when we learn to retrieve - in this case, retrieving a classic indeed caused a tangle, albeit one of Pashmina dhaagas. ... full review

So-So by Saumil Gandhi, Upper Stall ...Fitoor is not an easy film to make for a mainstream audience, and Abhishek Kapoor deserves a pat on the back for sticking to his vision. An unusual comparison would be with Bajirao Mastani, also a stunning visual spectacle high on technical treatment. But while Bhansali seemed to retrofit a plot into a film that did not need one, Kapoor does not succumb to this temptation. Consequently, Fitoor is a more consistent and a stronger film, even if it’s appeal may be limited for the same reasons. ... full review

So-So by Rummana, yahoo! India ...Alas, Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Fitoor’ looks better than it feels. ... full review

Thumbs up by Ritika Handoo, ZEENEWS.COM ...Aditya has portrayed his 'Fitoor' with utmost conviction and shown what it feels like to love in volatile situations. His chemistry with Katrina will not disappoint you—a fresh pair after a long time. Special mention for the brilliant execution of art work and cinematography by Anay Goswami and art direction by Mayur Sharma. ... full review
