Dil Kabaddi - Notepad

Dil Kabaddi

quick review: Variety is the spice of life, of married life, of sex out of married life. Ignoring the other aspects of relationships, sexuality in mid-life crises is explored via some good performances. Wish other aspects were acknowledged too.

This page has additional observations, other than the ones noted in the main review.

Plot Summary

Mita (Soha ali Khan) just can’t handle her husband, Sumit’s (Irrfan Khan’s) unruliness and wild ways. Sumit can’t handle Mita’s prim and properness. Their good friends Konkana Sen Sharma-Rahul Bose are in trouble too, but don’t know it yet. How each one resolves his/her own mid-life crisis is what you are in for.

What Worked

  • Little thing like – the lovey-dovey couple in the car just after the titles to contrast with the mood Soha Ali Khan and Irrfan Khan are in. Then people watching a religious channel on a big, flat screen add to the humor.
  • The feeling that each one of us needs a psychiatrist, or a listening board, or an alter ego when characters are speaking to the camera.
  • Rahul Bose not willing to let his midnight shower go in vain.
  • Soha Ali Khan exuding her sexuality when her character wants to.

Ashwini:

A bit dissapointed with the movie, considering the amazing starcast it had. Rahul Bose did fit the bill though, and the "landoor" thing made me fall of my seat. Other than that pretty average stuff.

MovieBhakt:

Has anyone of you watched Om Dar Badar directed by Kamal Swaroop??? I had just watched it's video and it looked very different and interesting (Check out in youtube). I read that this film had received critical acclaim from national as well as international arena. So much so that the Censor Board banned the film since they did not understand any bit of it ;-). Later, released the film with an A certificate.

meetu:

Ashwini, I actually enjoyed all the performances.

MovieBhakt, really? Movies like these need to be watched just out of curiosity, if nothing else. :)

Seema:

hey its nice movie but sometimes very bakwas dialogues are there .....

Ram:

Irrfan Khan just swept us all away. He overshadowed all the other actors and was miles away.

Though it's a copy of "Husbands and Wives", it's really a well done movie.
