I think this will be the nice movie to watch
I am surprised you have that positive a review about this movie. Although shot beautifully, I still feel it was a great street play, but the story and the thread through the whole gamut of characters and mini-stories were missing.. and in the end someone realised oh we have to have something, some issue.. so the issue was put. The love story was downright irritating.. you never know why and how characters start feeling for each other...! So many issues just touched upon.. but no light on whatsoever... but yes they did not forget to spell out the m-e-s-s-a-g-e of the movie (which they themselves might have realised very late), to the extent of becoming downright preachy! a dissapointment!
i agree with nisha
after rang de basanti director is over confident so that he is making this kind of movie
Don't you think it has a bit to do with our expectations? What if we lowered our expectations and watched it as a regular movie, wouldn't we enjoy it more?
Nisha, Aashish fortunately I managed to enjoy a bit despite these issues.
No, I think its because of expectations. I think its the other way round.. Since he had given an intelligent awesome movie last time, we see him in a better light and so the movie is also well received. Had it been any other (god, forbid) a new director.. no one would have bothered. Even I enjoyed bits and pieces of it, but there were huge turnoffs.. like the heaven scene in pristine white (lol!) and come on Meetu stick to ur guns.. u didnt like jab we met and jaane tu because of similar flaws!!!!
Rang de Basanti missed the point it was making, in its entire length, in its final 30 minutes. The director so nearly found his mark, but ended up missing it by a long way. But the film prior to the disastrous climax was so well made, we as the audience lapped it up.. This, sadly, doesnt happen here. No, the director loses it here too, but the entire flm is misguided. You cant appreciate a film for how well its shot, when it wants to pass on a very important message, as secularism. The film is forgettable. And thats a failure. As far as the technical aspects are concerned, ah well, they're pretty darned spectacular. But we've seen better, haven't we? DevD for instance...
uhh...which is exactly why Jab We Met was given the same recommendation, "Really keen? Watch on Screen" True I did bump the rating up a bit when I had a new scale in place ( " target="_blank">http://wogma.com/index.php/about-us/announcements... ). I thought I was a little harsh on it because the whole boyfriend bit was too lame. I mean, did Aditya even have competition from Anshuman? Unless the point was to say Geet's love was blind, which I seriously doubt. Also the earlier scale would have bumped it up too high. Jaane Tu... I thought blatantly used the cliches and thus looked smart. But it doesn't take away from the fact that it was filled with all the cliches. Delhi-6 on the other hand did pretty well till the last half an hour. I did not NOT like any of these, I just didn't like them enough to let go of what was wrong with them.
Right Sujay, technical brilliance is not enough to make or break a film. But for the "clearly pointing out the subtleties" bit and like you said losing it in the end spoiled the experience. Oh well...
"No nudity. Though sex in an extra-marital relationship is hinted at." I found this funny.
For us the movie was ok, could have been better
The movie was brilliant in some part, but did not work in others. Cinema is not about abstract ideas but more towards phrasing of moment. Did not work much for us. Yet an interesting film.
I think this is the really nice movie to watch. every think is the nice. i Salute to u Rahman Sir 4 nice songs in movie....................!
Y not add song and singer name ?
Because I don't have the time to fill in so many details nor do I have the resources to do that...sorry :(
plz dude watch some meaningfull film like delhi-6 yaar.
