So-So by Khalid Mohamed, Hindustan Times ...Though the film has its share of stock characters, maudlin and over-the-top moments and sags in the latter half, there’s also good story-telling, some great acting, and a healthy dose of masala in the item numbers.... full review
So-So by Rajeev Masand, IBN Live ...Billu Barber works smoothly as a simple, moral tale, its charm interrupted every time the director goes for broader, more 'commercial' appeal. But it's enjoyable and heart-felt too... full review

Hi Meetu, Your notepad is the best part of the review, so kep it going. Missed it in the last few reviews. Cheers! Shilpa.
Thanks, Shilpa! The pleasure is actually mine :)
Billu was a huge disappointment.. I didn't follow your rating(as always) and went for a morning show.. and Billu bored me to death.. the only thing good about the movie was Irrfan Khan... and *some* of his dialogues.. Apart from the taht the movie was a huge putoff.. Shah Rukh needs to remind himself that his glory days are gone if he refuses to come out of the King Khan role.. What started as a promise in Fauji and Circus has faded away and what remains is a Johared version of a star that could-have-been. And why did Priyan have to put up with four item songs... fully out of place.. there is hardly any character development and so you feel really nothing about the story.. and Shah Rukh trying to explain how the film industry is so closely-knitted is corny and unwanted.. Add to it a village which looks different in different shots.. Why couldn't they make the Malamaal Weekly village.. Barber or no barber, Billu was hugely disappointing.. I hope My Name is Khan is better... but alas! all I can do is hope.. P.S.: I *used* to be a staunch Shah Rukh fan.. *sigh*..
And hope springs eternal...so lage raho ;) ...
