So-So, by Sarvepalli Bhavana, Bollywood Life : ...Liger starts taking it seriously as revenge on Taniya. But it is Liger’s responsibility to win because he becomes and inspiration to many gully boys like him. Also, his mom has been dreaming to see him becoming a champion.... full review

So-So, by Devesh Sharma, Filmfare : ...All-in-all, Liger is a case of missed opportunities. Vijay Deverakonda is a genuine star and certainly could have hoped for a better film than Liger to be his Bollywood debut. Even his infinite charm and dedication aren’t enough to uplift it.... full review

So-So, by Tulasi Neppali, fullhyd.com : ...No doubt the Liger team held it together during the challenging pandemic times, battling budget-bloat and delays to finally get the movie out. If good intentions and hard work were enough to make a successful movie, Liger would be an ace. But there is that pesky little issue of having a good story and script. Hopefully, Puri and Devarakonda take note before losing the next two years in their upcoming movie, JGM.... full review

So-So, India TV : ...However, they were some who were very disappointed. "Abbailu very below average 1st half. Very routine story, no gripping screenplay, 0 exciting moments. Wasted #VijayDeverakonda Caliber. Feels like watching a dubbing movie. Totally on second half now.. Assam train kosam ticket tiskunatle anipistondi as of now #ligerreview #Liger."... full review

Thumbs down, by Subhash K Jha, Bolly Spice : ...Amidst the hamming , heaving and heavy lifting Deverakonda shows off his admirable fighting and dancing skills. It’s like playing the piano in a room filled with tone-deaf revelers high on hooch. Spare yourself this ordeal unless you are a diehard Deverakonda fan.... full review

Thumbs down, by Deepanjana Pal, Film Companion : ...The story telling of Liger is disappointing . Mass entertainers are supposed to be fun and inventive. They are supposed to respect the audience's time and money. Instead we have been given a saala crossbreed that's all about stupidity and rage.... full review

Thumbs down, by Rohit Bhatnagar, Free Press Journal : ...Puri’s Liger is an absolute yawn fest. You’d be better off watching any popular dubbed South film on your television sets accompanied with a homemade ‘rasam’.... full review

Thumbs down, by Janani K, india today : ...Liger also joins the long list of films that blame women for men getting distracted. The film makes us question if the team spent ample time writing the script. If only Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur and Karan Johar had set aside half of the time and money for the script instead of the promotions, Liger could have been a much better film. If only.... full review

Thumbs down, by Umesh Punwani, koimoi : ...All said and done, it hurts to see projects such as this making it to the theatres even in 2022. I understand cinema is subjective & this is my just opinion: “Please start making films for moviegoers, instead of just fans.”... full review

Thumbs down, by Mayank Shekhar, MiD DAY : ...The Rock-like ‘mard’ growls. Some dialogues are on echo mode. I’m more interested if the peppy dance tracks — with lyrics that go ‘Dikidi dikido’ or ‘Jawani teri aafat’ — shot with speeding drones will bang it at nightclubs. At some point, this cartoon show slips so lower than the deepest trenches that I can’t even bother to look up on the screen anymore.... full review

Thumbs down, by Sameer Ahire, Movie Talkies : ...Liger has music, but what it has got to do with situations is a bigger puzzle than why did Katappa kill Bahubali? Akdi Pakdi has massy beats but a non-fitting situation. Better call it an illogical song that has been put in the film only to extend the runtime and, for that matter, your boredom. Aafat is a big aafat for the music lovers but a pleasure to eyes as Vijay and Ananya‘s super hot looks kill the other germs. Liger’s editing lacks basic sense. If you want to disappoint the audience, at least do it with a short runtime. Why take 140 minutes? Those dialogues were written in the 80s but used in 2022... full review

Thumbs down, by Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV : ...Indeed, that is where Liger begins to hover by the time it has run its course. It is massive mess of a movie that Vijay Deverakonda's newfangled physique and action chops cannot salvage. As for the other actors in the cast, they ham their way through and compete to outshout each other. 22 Comments... full review

Thumbs down, by Sonil Dedhia, News18.com : ...Liger was targeted to be this crossbreed cinema that was filmed simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. Aimed as the first pan-Indian film, Vijay Deverakonda surely misses the punch. At 140 minutes, Liger seems so long that by the end, I started feeling why did I get into this ‘Aafat.’... full review

Thumbs down, by Aishwarya Ragupati, NewsBytes : ...I don't recall even one serious issue that the film spoke about. If the makers had invested in the story and screenplay at least half as much as they did in Deverakonda's body transformation, the film wouldn't have been half as bad.... full review

Thumbs down, by Arvind V, Pinkvilla : ...Ronit Roy looks fit and mouths quotable quotes as a coach. "They ignore you. Then they insult you. Then they fight you. Then you win." And then the audience ignore you. Getup Srinu gets more space than he actually deserves. Mike Tyson's cameo is a dud.... full review

Thumbs down, by Sukanya Verma, Rediff : ...One can only hope the legendary boxer made a killing for an awkward appearance that somehow ends with him on a Nevada ranch flanked by cowboys and fanboys.... full review

Thumbs down, by Nandini Ramnath, Scroll.in : ...Tyson, playing the fictional character Mark Anderson, arrives at the point at which the 140-minute film has already run out of juice. Having exhausted his energy on woman-bashing, shrew-taming and filming Devarakonda’s physical prowess from every imaginable angle, Jagannadh doesn’t quite know what to do with the mercurial pugilist. The conversation that persuaded Tyson to be in Liger could be its own movie. It might be more entertaining too.... full review

Thumbs down, by Sangeetha Devi Dundoo, The Hindu : ...This big-ticket film that aimed for pan-India attention ended up as an embarrassment. At the start of the film, the protagonist says that he is not good at narrating a story, but he will try. Perhaps that was a warning about the film. Thankfully, Liger does not end on a note that allows room for a sequel.... full review

Thumbs down, by Stutee Ghosh, The Quint : ...Vijay Deverakonda’s debut in Bollywood has him with a head full of hair, body full of bulging muscles and a performance full of ham. The film, which was supposed to be this big pan –India entertainer, is a disappointment of colossal portions.... full review

Thumbs down, by Neeshita Nyayapati, Times of India : ...It’s ironic that Liger is asked to focus multiple times in the film, but the script itself lacks the same focus. Things just keep happening for no rhyme or reason and Puri fails to deliver a satisfactory conclusion to any of the tracks. Vijay deserved better, so did we. As the filmmakers promised, watt laga diya, but not in a good way.... full review
