"So strong is my belief in Farhan Akhtar writing and intelligence that I feel they can easily undo any damage done by Shah Rukh Khan's over-acting" Good one Indeed. LOL I really laughed hard at that.
I have had 11 wall posts about Ra one and 8 of them are negative with 2 positve praising only the special effects. The fil is not working among teens and young adults too. As for the kids my friend took his younger sister to see Ra one and she hated it too.I think overkill has killed this film
I dont care how much records this film breaks. It is still crap ans so was ready an unbearably agonizing film which was not in the least funny. However big a star Salman might be he cannot act because he sleep walks his role. His films stand on his star power not acting.Sad ,since he showed us how with little effort he can actually be good in Dabaang.
@Rema-Yes I completely agree with you on teachers having to earn bread for themselves and as far I know I have attended coaching classes last year but the classes never gave me "leaked" papers so that was an unfair allegations. Also if you are school teacher let me just inform you why students attend coaching classes because the teaching in schools sucks.
I think that Reservation is still not the right way to help the so called backward castes because having different cutoffs for a particular community is still unfair. For eg The cut off for the top engeniering college in mumbai-95/200 in cet(FOR RESERVED) 150/200(GENERAL).Also some friends of mine also gloated in front of me last year in ssc that we dont have to study because we have reservation and all that and their familiees are well to do since they can attend expensive coaching clases so why have reservation for them? AS far the commercialisation of education is concerned I would like to quote vinod sharma from times now debate "Why there is team anna?Because the government is not doing their job properly" Similarly i want to say "Why we have coaching classes ?Because schools are not doing their job properly" just like to make one point as a SSC student who has just passed last year that whatever marks I got was because of the coaching classes ,even if they did it for money they still the efforts they took were visibleand appreciable and also we were free to call them on our mobile to clarify our doubts. On t he other hand our school did only around 30 percent of our portion and the rest were left for homework or for self study. Thanks for listening to my long tirade but I just wanted to tell a few points to everyone.
Lion king rocks.I had seen the film 4 times on television and still it is one of my favarouties.3D sucks espesciallly post conversion films because they are not meant to be in 3D.
watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and was very pleased with how well it stuck to the book. Because of this, I had high expectations for Part 2. I mean, if you did so well in the first half, you have to do just as well in the second half, right? Right? Wrong.
The movie started off very well, starting from exactly where it left off in Part 1 and staying faithful to the book all the way to when Harry and co break into Hogwarts. That's where it starts to go down hill.
*Spoilers!*
The good:
- Neville. He was perfectly perfect even though his line was corny and melodramatic and his killing of nagini was not like in the book still not his fault though. I really wish they gave him more screen time because he was adorable.
- The Gringott's scene. Very well done.
- The emotion we are shown from Snape. . In the pensieve, we see a different side of him and it is a refreshing change and he deserves a oscar nod for his role.
- The battle at Hogwarts. It was intense and special effects were first rate.
- Rupert Grint and Dan Radcliffe and the rest of the cast. All of them give wonderful perfomances espescially dan who really gets into harrys character
OK you know it's bad when I resort to writing about that.
The bad:
- They completely took out the scene where Harry and Luna go into the Ravenclaw Common Room, where they are ambushed by one of the Carrows. It appeared as if they would show it, as I hope they would (I've always wanted to see the other common rooms), but then they don't. Hm.
- Fred's death scene. was hurried and not enough of an emotional moment nor do we see percys emotional outburst which was an very emotional moment. This was an insult to his character's memory.
- Crabbe's disappeared. Gets replaced by Zabini, and replaced in a different way by Goyle.
- Snape's memories are rushed and they take out some of the most interesting memories. They just go through a few of them quickly. I've always enjoyed the memories, because you get to see life at Hogwarts through the eyes of someone else for a change, in a different time era.
Some portions are over dramatizied for the sake of being epic and some of the soul of the books are sacrificed.
- There is not a single mention of Teddy Lupin. That is, until the end when Harry suddenly knows about Lupin's son. Weird, considering Harry was camping in a forest and hadn't heard of any of this.
- Collin Creevey is replaced by that random Nigel kid.Who the hell is nigel? He is not in the book.If they could keep a character not in the book then why was charley weasley never introduced?
- Still no mention of the significance of the horcruxes. Hufflepuff's cup is just a plain old cup that Voldy turned into a horcrux.
- Not enough interaction with characters other than the trio. Too much Harry. It's as if everybody else just have cameos.
-Malfoy who was seen bossing his friends till now finally breaks down and grieves over his lost friend showing his emotional side as well.
- Voldemort's and Bellatrix's death = explosion into confetti! Was ridiculous to say the least.Avada kedavra dosent causes bodies to burst. It causes instant death.
- Percy's on the good side all of a sudden. No explanation at all (a reoccurring theme with Yates, don't you think?).
- Harry does not fix his old wand with the Elder Wand. No, instead he takes the Elder Wand and SNAPS IT IN HALF. Is that even possible? I didn't think so. So Harry breaks the wand and then chucks it into the abyss. Really Yates, really?
- Goodbye Dumbledore's back story!
- Haary goes into the room of requirements without ron and hermione so when they suddenly come there after a while how did they know where to find harry? Also Harry is not congragulated by one person for defeating the invincible Voldermort.Shame.There is no felling of glory that such a thing is over.
-Very little is mentioned of the deathly hallows and that is a central theme in the book.
*End of Spoilers*
All in all, all of the personality and charm of the series was zapped away in an attempts to make this final movie is action-packed as possible. It's a shame to see something that you've grown up with, learned to love, taken and twisted into somebody's 'vision.' I mean, why bother adding your own unimportant scenes to the movie, when there are perfectly good ones in the book that you did not bother using at all? There's no...bonding with the characters, no connection with them you felt in Part 1. I did not feel the love for this movie like I had with the book. There was just so much significance that was left out of that movie, and it is such a shame. It had such potential to be a fantastic movie, and it fell short all because of the changes that were unnecessarily made.Still it was a good movie and all the changes makes it a dissapointing one not bad but it could have been lot better.
Saw harry potter yesterday though it was a good movie couldnt help feeling slightly underwhelemed since many important parts are cut out from the movie.will watch singham on dvd.
i hate the famous five.the story is ridiculously simple and the characters are sexist.girls are either wanting to be boys(george)or extreme put downs(anne). The stories are recycled and tiring to the point of exasperation. Some people say that it is for kids and should not be criticized but I disagree.I am 15 and I hate it.Does anyone agree with me?
It Was a really good movie and i enjoyed it.My local theatre was full of college kids who had come in pairs.I am 15 myself.Meetu its good that you arereviewing english movies yourself.please keep it up.What is your opinion on harry potter and twilight series?
@pragya:Dude please calm down.Meetu just said that she didnt like it not that audience are dumb or every film should be gullal. She just gave her suggestion.
Meetu, while bollywood comedies are not really grat, heck they are not even very good but I think sometimes you are a little harsh on masala entertainers because you have to understand that masses like these kind of screwball comedies and hence it has taken huge opening. In my local thatre i saw big lines for the movie for the current evening show. Also you cant expect a Udaan,Stanley ka dabba or taare zammen par for every film because they are not since every film can be an academy winner and the there should be a great story for every movie or it should be a thought provoking movie.Any way please keep on posting reviews as I really enjoy reading them.
I never thought the first was great.it was complety palagarized even by bollywood standards so no surprise this one tanked because in bollywood sequels have little connection with the original
