From all the above comments, one can easily say that this Fan is a Hindu fanatic who did not get or understand the concept of the movie. Kapil seems to be more logical in his comments. How can someone say "Make a movie on Muhammad (pbuh)" This is a ridiculous comment. The movie showed the hypocrisy of the hindu godmen or asarams who fool the people by making fake shrines or selling fake dreams. See the scene in the college where PK creates an instant shrine! The movie asks the question - Why do you need these common men who have special sales or persuaion techniques with some religious knowlegde to reach God. God is available to you directly through your own prayers. Even Islam has such "godmen" where the followers seek their advise and fall at their feet and donate to their dargas generously. But Islam strictly prohibits this act and even does not allow anyone to bow down and donate to even the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). My advise to the minorities who have disliked the movie and on top of that, hate the fact that the majority has immensely loved the movie is to relax and realise that none of your comments or views are shared by the majority who spent Rs 335 crores watching this movie. Sorry Fan...

@Anuj, You talk so much about bias, I just have one question for you. Have you looked at your own comments? You are the most biased than any site, person, producer can even imagine. Implying that couch potatoes, aunties etc watch the Khan movies just goes to show your hatred towards a certain Khan. I am not a big fan of any of the Khans nowadays although I used to be a big fan of SRK till about Ra 1 happened. I hate Salman just because he spoiled Bollywood with Wanted since 2009. I am a fan of Hrithik, mainly for his humbleness but of late, he is becoming arrogant too.
The main point to ponder is what do we get by naming or pointing fingers at fans or these actors. These superstars and even actors are oblivious of your existence. It doesn't matter if you love them or hate them and it makes no difference to their personal or commercial lives at all. Why get tangled in this pointless jargon of who is a better actor or who is more successful etc. Just watch the movie and enjoy it if you like it or trach it if you hate it.

  • Singham Returns:

@Meetu - you mention that you have no bias but can you please tell me what it means when your rating states - "No rating applies to a Salman Khan movie! It's a Salman khan movie plus more!" This clearly shows that your ratings are pre-judged and biased based on who is acting in the movie. If stars depended on getting rave reviews from critics, they would all be struggling for survival like Naseeruddin shah, Om puri, Akshaye Khanna etc. No star can satisfy the critic as well as be commercially dependable. The only star that comes close is Aamir Khan and even he was ridiculed for Dhoom 3 by your fraternity. I am not a big fan of Salman khan but I do enjoy a good movie like Dabangg and kick. Hence, I am a huge fan of entertaining movies and not stars. Pls review a movie on content rather than the star!

  • Singham Returns:

As stated in the review itself, this is a Rohit shetty film and this director is fast becoming one of the biggest directors of our age. He has become critic proof and has proven that he can make blockbusters with Ajay and SRK. His real test should be to make a movie with a new talent like Siddharth, Varun, Aditya, Shahid or Ranveer and see if he can create the same magic.
@Fan, I don't think anybody would bet with Ajay against, AK, SRK or SK. The Khans are just too big for him. He tried taking on SRK in 2012 with Son of Sardar and lost with majority of the theater owners going with SRK. On the other hand, he still has a small chance against Hrithik but Hrithik has age on his side whereas Ajay is close to 50. In my opinion, all these starts from the 90s who are approaching 50 will have a real tough time to maintain their looks and body in the next 4-5 years. Akshay and Ajay are already looking haggard, SRK is made up like a doll with lots of make up, AK and Salman are looking good so far. if Hrithik signs up with good directors, he should be ruling for the next 5-6 years. It's only a matter of time that big directors start making movies with the new talent.

  • It's Entertainment:

@Guddu - You are right, I have started to watch this movie Entertainment on the web (I will not spend a dime on this movie) and I could not finish the movie. It is very silly, repetitive and very lazy film making.
@Fan - I am not asking for a 5 star review for every big banner movie but you have pointed the fact that there is a huge disconnect between the reviewer and audience. I have yet to find an indian critic or reviewer who knows the pulse or taste of the "indian" audience. Taran Adarsh is too enthusiastic for big banners and goes overboard on many occasions like Blue and Jai ho but you will notice that he doesn't give 5 stars very easily. You can be sure that if he gives 3 stars or below to any movie, that movie is worth "switch channels" like Besharam, Total Siyapaa, R.Rajkumar, Zanjeer, Once upon a time in Mumbai dobara etc (all big budget movies). I believe that Taran is more accurate in his reviews and predictions than any of the other critics, even though he is not at all perfect or 100% right all the time.
@Meetu - The "switch channels" rating is perfect for this movie. Unfortunately, some of the movies that you reviewed do not deserve the rating of "Watch if you have nothing better to do". This rating was used for Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, Dabangg and Kick, all of which are not hits or superhits but BLOCKBUSTERS! I have the DVDs for these and everytime my kids prefer to watch these in the car on a long trip for the umpteenth time rather than any other movies. I mean how can you not laugh at the train sequence between SRK and Deepika in CE, the arrogant style of Chulbul pandey in Dabangg, the action and drama in D3 etc. I am a tough guy to amuse who doesn't fall for stupid comedies like Entertainment or Hera Phera 2 or even Dabangg 2 but I always thought that my taste is in sync with the indian audience even though I have lived in USA for 21 years now. Based on your statement, you mentioned that your husband even likes the masala movies...

  • It's Entertainment:

For the Kick review, Meetu stated that is a Salman khan movie and for this one, she states that it is a Akshay kumar movie. Apart from stating the obvious, what is the point of mentioning these facts?!? For PK, she will say that it is a Aamir khan movie, Happy New year is a SRK and Farah khan movie and Singham Returns is a Rohit shetty movie. OK, so what's your point? Every actor and director has a style of movie making which can not be changed. Have you forgotten Special 26 and OMG from the same Akshay kumar. Agreed that Salman has been repeating himself for the last 5 years, but over the 20 years he too had movies which were varied like HAHK, HDDCS, AAA, Karan Arjun, Tere Naam etc. What will be the definition of SRK and Aamir khan movies?

I have to agree that the movies of today have just one goal and that is to make lots of money as fast as possible before the public can spread the word of mouth. At the same time, the movies that have become blockbusters have been entertaining and not completely "switch Channels" kind such as Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, YJHD etc. The reviews on this website are getting worse than the movies.

  • Jai Ho:

@Anuj: "an extraordinary superstar making a heroic entry smashing window panes and wooden doors and single handedly butchering 30 goons all by himself!" How can this be whistle worthy?? People flying in the air after doing 10 flips in mid air!! It looks good in a Matrix setting but Matrix released 15 years ago!! Get over it and make more D-Day style action. Most of the sensible people would like a Hero such as Ethan Hunt from "Mission Impossible" who still performs unbelievable stunts but at least makes it look real and fun. "single handedly butchering 30 goons all by himself!" How can anyone sensible in our times even begin to like this kind of action??

Unfortunately, the next movie of Salman is once again a remake of a south indian movie called Kick. It will also be directed by a new director Sajid Khan. I have not seen Kick but there is an audience fatigue with the South indian movie remakes. I can bet that Jai Ho would have been a blockbuster if it came out in 2011 and 2012 (maybe 2013 too) But not anymore. Every actor worth his salt has tried this formula beaten to death like Akshay, Ajay Devgn, Saif and even Shahid!! SRK is a smart actor who did not go the south remake route but did try his hand in the south genre and maintained his famous Rahul character in the movie. This was an amazing and brilliant move by either SRK or Rohit Shetty to bring his Rahul character into a south movie environment. The end result was a highly entertaining movie which did not feel repetitive at all. To be honest, SRK and more so Aamir try different genres and take a risk to bring different kind of movies to the audience (SRK changes up between his repetitive ones - Chak De, Don, My name is Khan, Ra One, CE. Repetitive - KKKG, KANK, VZ, JTHJ)
Salman needs to step back and rethink his next strategy. The Suraj Bharjatya movie might bring a change which maybe what is needed...

Why are fans so passionate about stars who don't even know they exist! Salman had a good run last 3 years but the end is not too far. Jai ho was the first sign of his downfall if he does not change his choice of movies. As far as acting is concerned, he is limited in that capacity but he still can select scripts which suit his acting. Arnold Swarzenneger's best role is the Terminator which completely utilized his expressionless acting. Salman still has a huge fanbase buf they can not make a blockbuster by themselves. A movie has to be universally accepted to be a blockbuster like Dhoom 3. Nobody can deny the fact that Aamir has the best sense of script selection jn the business. Passionatd fans like Anuj can only take a movie to a safe zone and sometimes not even that. This movie was earlier titled Mental which was a more approprite title for this movie!!

  • Dhoom 3:

I just saw D3 and I will say that it is an excellent mass appeal entertainer which was not just liked by the adults in my whole circle of friends and families but loved by the kids. I understand that the stuck up critics will like to rip it apart saying it is silly and illogical at many points but the paying masses ignore such minor details to have fun. If movies were made for the critics, I can say 100% of the movies will be flops like Lunchbox, Road, shahid etc. One thing I would like to add is that per Anuj commentary, I don't agree with Amir Khan being a media star. He may not be the greatest actor but he is absolutely of the best and NO one and I mean no one has the capability to select a pure golden script like him. He reads the script from theviewpoint of the public. He is simply amazing in his choice of script selection AND alternation of scripts from one year to another. Critics can write and give stars and feel happy but in the end, they can't reduce $1 from the box office revenue of the superstars!
