Force - Wogma Readers Reviews

Force

quick review: Force is a perfect masala film, which also means, it is perfectly predictable. And yet, Force keeps you engaged. It has everything in the right proportion - romance, action, drama. But it doesn't have that one overwhelming factor which can make me recommend it to you without any reservations. I have to add caveats like, if you are into hard-core action, if you like borderline genuine romance, if you don't mind the two interrupting each other, then watch it for sure.

moviebhakt:

@meetu - It's surprising that there is no mention of the original tamil version, "kaaka kaaka" here..!!! In case you haven't seen it, watch it for sure. It may be very difficult for Force to create the magic the original one did.

Coming to Nishikant Kamat, he had definitely shown a lot of promise in Mumbai Meri Jaan. I wonder what made him do a Hindi remake of a Tamil hit! And, the fact that Force looks so heavy on "masala" and "ishtyle" and less on substance makes me feel that the director must have been Force-d to direct this film.

Rachit Gupta:

Hi Meetu,

This is the movie (Khakha Khaka) that literally started it all in Tamil cinema. Brilliant action with a proper storyline it was one of Suriya's earliest hits. Will it have the same effect on John's career??? We never know .... but from the looks of it TOI is already impressed! 4 stars and nearabouts!!! I am waiting for your thoughts on this movie... really!!!
PS: I have a very sneaky suspicion that you will love this one (Conditions apply: they shud stick to the original)...
And before i end this post just a bit of trivia: the khwabon khwabon track is lifted from the tamil original (urinye urinye) which itself is copied (oops inspired) from du hast by rammestien - a German band (methinks).

Anand Balakrishnan:

people seeing force may like it but those who has seen the tamil original will not like it. john is ok but suriya in the tamil original was exceptional. very difficult for john to match him.

Rachit Gupta:

Hi Meetu,

Just back after watching the movie... I really liked it and this despite the fact i knew every twist that was to come... And as Anand above says John can only match Suriya in his "khwabon khwabon" mein (hehe!!!)
And from where I live I have to drive 45 miles to see a bollywood film!!! It was totally worth the effort...
A slight difference of opinion on your review: I felt very strongly for the characters... I was angry at the villain for being so evil and winced every time John was hurt in the last action sequence!!! Each blow to him was felt!!! Its been a long time since I so emotionally invested in a movie or maybe it was just the brutality of the character brilliantly depicted by the newcomer!!!

meetu:

@moviebhakt well, i haven't seen the original, so didn't see any point in mentioning it. I want to watch it though. Too many films, too little time!

@Rachit wow! that's nice. watching force did make me want to check out the original film. will do eventually.

@Anand i won't be surprised!

Jitaditya:

Shashi:
